GPS in Europe

I bought a 2004 TL in the states and ended up moving to the UK the following year (taking the car with me). The navigation system does not work here. I went to a local honda dealer and they told me the US models with GPS are set-up only to play in the states. Need to know if there is some way to get the system to work here in Europe.

Maybe its just the disk? See if one of the dealers will let you put a disk from them in your car and see what it does. Unless you already have the disk for that area... If it dont work then its prob a software lock on the navi system itself, and dealer cant change that, so you may have to get a new navi rom unit... If so may not be too bad as you can sell the older one.

navi dvd for europe

TL navi DVD rom for Europe???

Sorry, but it looks like you're out of luck. The TSX (in the States) and TL uses different nav systems. If you find a TSX or Accord (in Europe) that uses the 3.X versions of the nav dvd, then you might stand a chance. Good luck!

I am trying to buy an 07 TL-S in the states and bring it to Europe - the salesman apparently heard of someone who got their NAV to work in Europe on a Honda. If I find it, I will post how. The NAV is just not as cool without the "NAV" part!

I ran into the same problem when I brought my TL-S to Germany in Feb 07. I went to a local honda dealership and tried a disc out of a Honda "Legend" (akaAcura RL) but my nav said the disc is too low a version for the system. The Legend was an 06 though. I have been in Iraq since jul 07 and I will get back sometime in a week or so and I intend on going back to the dealership to see if they have a newer version disc. The discs were made by the same company, they looked identical, just said Europe instead of United States on it.

Europe solution

After a year and a half of living here in Germany, I still have to use my crummy Alpine blackbird windshield Navi on my Type-S
:2cents:
The NaviDVD here in Europe is encoded in PAL while the North American disc is NTSC.

If someone can convert an PAL disc into NTSC, that just might do the trick. I have the Honda 2006 Europe File (no disc) that maybe one of you computer savvy folks can fix up to work with an American Spec Car.

Thoughts?

Sorry to revive old thread, but I may be able to convert it from PAL to NTSC if you send me the file... Do we have PMs here?

Any solutions to this yet?

Hi everybody,

I'm literally replying for the first time in 11 years, and I don't know whether anybody from this post is still active, however I might just give it a shot.

Of all the forums I've rummaged through, this is the one I believe has come closest to solving the problem I believe.
Nowhere else have I seen somebody presenting the possibility of PAL vs NTSC encoding.

Having said that, if anybody is still out there and reading, can you tell me if you've gotten any closer?
Recently I have imported a Honda to Europe, and I would like to make the navi actually work (nobody in the Honda forums has gotten any close to solving this).
If you already have the solution, or have heard about somebody that has done it, please do let me know.

Hi "shufflin",

Where are you located in europe?

Hans

Hi John,
Thanks for replying to this thread, glad to see I reached somebody.

I have imported a 2010 Honda Odyssey, to Albania.

I don't need the maps for my country, I need them for the rest of Europe. I do travel a lot and plan to keep doing so, at least after the situation gets a bit more to normality.

Cheers

You can connect the accord 2009-2013 Navi DVD drive. It should work and you‘ll get the most functions.

So you basically mean I should get the DVD drive (basically the box where I put the Navi DVD in) from an Accord?
Do you think they have the same connector with the one from the Odyssey?

You can take a picture from your drive an send me an email.
I‘ve a 2010 Accord drive here as spare. hvoggenauer@t-online.de
