I placed an order for these caliper covers last Thursday (7/18). PJ was very quick to reply to all of my PM's, and we finally closed the deal via a phone call. Needless to say, I am anxiously awaiting my caliper covers. Thanks PJ!!! Great vendor!!!

Pennstater 08-06-2012 10:30 AM

I received my set of caliper covers (4) this past Saturday. They look great, but I have yet to get them installed. I am hoping for this coming weekend. Whenever I can get to it, I'll post up some pics here.

Thanks again PJ for coming though on these.

I got around to installing the covers this past Saturday. The first side took about an hour-and-a-half, but the other side took about 45 minutes. For the fronts, I had to cut the center metal mounting tab back to just behind the hole (where it bends down as it makes its way to the actual cover - used a Dremel). The side mounting tabs have to be bent out a bit as well. It just took some trial and error to see how it should mount up. I used Permatex high-temp black RTV to hold them in place. I thoroughly cleaned the calipers with brake cleaner and then rubbing alcohol. Once on, I let them set for at least an hour before even touching them. At that point, I installed my wheels, put the car back in the garage and let it sit in there all day Sunday. They really give a clean look to the whole "wheel presentation." Okay, so here they are installed...

Great job!

Is this what I need to use?

http://www.permatex.com/products/aut...sket_maker.htm

Also, any bending of the cover for the rear ones. I just ordered two for my 6mt rears.

Pennstater 08-13-2012 04:07 PM

^ Yep, that's the stuff.

I had to slightly bend the two end tabs out just a little bit (it is very easy to do with just your fingers). I did it just enough so that the cover would stay in place on its own (the tabs applied enough pressure to the caliper).

Once I had the fitment, I removed the cover and applied the RTV to the appropriate locations (I approximated this by eye). I then slipped the covers on and cleaned up any excess RTV (its a bit messy, so have plenty of rags on hand). I also took the nozzle that comes with the RTV and got it into some of the places from behind the cover as best I could.

Here is a link to the forum thread that I used as a guide...

Good luck!!!

A SiQ TL 08-13-2012 05:55 PM

Penn, they look good. Your rotors look small with those wheels :tomato:

weird that the link shows up as acura-cl .com. I noticed earlier someone else linked a thread from the 3G TL section, and the link said TSX forum

Great detail, I think I got the idea to bend the tap for a direct fit without RTV first.

Thanks a lot.

BTW, do you happen to think about how to take the caliper off later in case to change the pads or something with the cover on? Any ideas?

Here is the original thread I made about these covers if anyone is interested in reading up on these. Thread is about 7 pages long now with good information.

These look GREAT. Have the OEM finish to them, they'll last. I already have caliper covers otherwise I'd buy a set of these.

I know people think they won't look good because it'll seem like they're trying too hard. You just have to see them in person and you'll never go back to the naked look.

Put them on today.

Used Black RTV to hold the two tabs on the caliper bracket. I am gonna wait till tomorrow to drive the car since it needs 24 hours for the RTV to completely cure.

Looks great though, just one concern. How long can the RTV last for?

These are some pictures

F.Y.I. The 2013 updates are in the system.
You can now order the caliper covers online.

Hey man I gotta say I've almost always bought from you when dealing with OEM parts. But I've got one complaint...

The 'total' price (or any prices for that matter) aren't shown on the actual page that you put your payment information in. Granted the end user should know what their cart total was the page before. But as far as checkouts on the web this is really bad practice.

I would wonder what your bounce rate is on that page. I bet you loose a customer here or there. Just lookin' out for ya!

BTW, shipping was $7 not $5.

Sorry, I was so excited they finally updated to the 2013 catalog and the caliper covers were available online, I forgot we couldn't offer flat rate shipping without a promo code.:tomato:

** A special for you (and everyone else following this thread), if you want the $5.00 flat fee for 2 caliper covers or the $8.00 flat rate fee for 4, just type "$5.00 (or $8 depending on the qty you buy) shipping per PJ" in the comment section. The order processing dept will adjust the freight prior to processing your credit card.

BTW, not sure what you are referring to, We do show your complete total in the shopping cart before collecting any personal or payment information from you.

If you are not seeing the total in the shopping cart at www.acuraoemparts.com prior to checkout, please call me at 561-265-0000. I am ext 217. Leave a msg if I do not answer.

with tweeking...That is what everyone is doing...Its the new fad ;) BETTER JUMP ON EM!!! Because they seem to run out of stock FAST!!! once everyone catches wind they are back in stock.

check this thread out for all the details and how to:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=861739

How? These are only a single sheet cover to OEM calipers. Not like the eBay cheapo wannabeez Brembo's...Now those I am against! These covers install and bolt on to orig. RDX and with slight customization, the TL to.

pohljm 09-30-2012 04:27 PM

intentionally adding non functional un-sprung weight just for vanity. I cannot succumb.
