How to reset check engine light
Hi guys...I'm back from hibernation. I had my TCS and check engine light lit and I thought my tranny is going bad. It turned out one of my ignition coil is dead. Now, I need to know how to reset the check engine light. Tried, to do a quick search but nothing came out. Please help.

Did you get the problem fixed?
You can either pull the fuse for the ecu or disconect the battery. |
what u do is:
1. TURN OFF IGNITION 2. HOLD SELECT AND RESET BUTTON FOR 10SECONDS 3. TURN ON TO IGNITION II AND KEEP HOLD OF SELECT AND RESET BUTTONS TILL CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS OFF 4. WHEN LIGHT TURNS OFF, TURN ON THE CAR AND SEE IF ITS OFF |

Disconnect the battery for a while. That'll clear the code(s). But if it's active, it'll come back on again. |

The MIL has to be reset by using an OBD-II scanner, or by disconnecting the battery. |

But to your credit, those instructions ARE correct for resetting the maintenance required indicator. NOT the same thing as the CEL, though. |
Thanks for the info guys. Last night when I started my car, the check engine light was gone for some reason. Maybe the computer figured out that the problem was fixed already. BTW, the problem was one of the cylinder was misfiring and it turned out to be the 4th spark plug coil is deffective. Got it replaced and it's good again. It happened yesterday morning on my way to work and I can feel the shake in the engine and then after a few miles, my TCS and check engine lit. Went to get it diagnosed. Dealer wants $90... a friend of mine referred me to a shop for $50. I was hesistant in the beginning because I keep reading in this forum that I can just go to Auto Zone to get it tested for free but my mechanic friend told me to go to the shop to get it diagnosed and a the same time get the actual problem. I forgot the code but the tech showed me the test equipment and it says in the description, MISFIRING. Paid for $47 for the parts.
