TL Switchblade Key FOB - How to Change Battery?

I have a TL Switchblade key that I am using with my '04 TL.
I am curious if anybody knows how to change the battery
in this fob?

There is a screw to open it, but the "button module" seems sealed
and I don't want to break it. Curious if somebody knows the trick.

This is the style FOB I am referring to -

Check the manual. I'm like 90% sure the instructions are in there.

I was looking at mine and it looks like there is a small Philips screw on the end of the FOB where the ring is for a key ring. I'm sure if you unscrew that you will able to open and change the battery.......:wish:

That generally is the #1 answer to everything, but since there are a few of us that have the modded switchblade keys, this won't appear in our manual (since we didn't officially have these keys for our cars).

Although, as I was typing that - I did think that you should be able to look at an 07-08 manual and find it in there. Check online for it.

  1. take the remote out of the key by removing the screw from near the metal band
  2. push the lock and unlock button and the remote should come apart
  3. on the right side of the remote you will see a gap in the black plastic with a white rubber gasket, using a flat head pry and the case will come apart.
  4. the battery is underneath, size 3v, CR1616

Are you sure you are talking about the switchblade key?
This key has a little sealed module that the battery must be
within. The problem is that there is no obvious way to
open the module.

The Acura dealer said nobody has come in for a replacement
battery, so they have no idea how to do it.

Help!

Hold on, question! Where did you get ur switchblade key for 04 TL? I asked the dealer if the 07-08 switchblade key would work for my 06 TL, their responded "No, they wouldn't fit" The reason I ask, cuz I always want swtichblade key instead of one remote and one key :tomato:

the module is not sealed, once I get my camera back i'll take a few photos of how to take it apart to change the battery.

csmeance, once you add the pics, could you save this as a DIY in the 3g garage? This looks like great info. Once/if my battery dies, I'd love to be able to find this thread quickly. thnx
