Hood alarm sensor

can somebody tell me where the hood sensor is located in an 02 TL-S

cause for some reason, when I lock my car, i press on the remote twice to get that beep, but it doesnt beep, and when the car is locked, i try to open it by lifting that thing next to the security light, and no alarm goes off, and also my security light never blinks.

I know that my trunk sensor works, but im not too sure about the hood sensor.

it would be even better if someone could tell me where all the alarm sensors are located, so that i could check them out.

i really dont wanna go to the dealer, since they always over charge you for everything...

has anyone else ever had this problem, if so how did you fix it?

fsttyms1 10-22-2006 09:03 PM

there arent alarm sensors on our car.

bkzjimmy 10-22-2006 09:03 PM

the only time i had this problem was because my rear driverside door lock was stuck in the unlocked position. after locking ur car with ur remote try every door to see if it locked.

AcuraKidd 10-22-2006 09:09 PM

i know there arent alaram sensors on our cars, the ones that when you kick the car or something and the alarm goes off, but thats not what im referring to.

im talking about those sensors that are in the trunk and in the hood, and possibly in some other places, i have no idea what they look like, and where they are located.

and after i lock my car with the remote, all the doors seem locked

but what i also tried was leaving the drivers side window open, and after locking the car and waiting a few mins, i try to open the door by pulling the tab, and the alarm doesnt go off.

so any other suggestions?

i had a problem with the trunk latch being faulty, and so my security system and driver door LED didn't work.

they replaced the latch and everything worked again

the car doesnt have those type of sensors either.

AcuraKidd 10-23-2006 09:11 AM

ok, its gotta have something thats malfunctioning thats preventing the alarm from working properly...

do you have any other suggestions?

Sure it does. I know I can't arm my alarm with the hood or trunk open.

I think it's what plugs in around item 33 & 34 on the hood latch (not sure what the difference is between that and 41?):

Think they are looking for the connection that tells the car the hood and trunk are closed. If you try to lock the car with the hood up, you get no sound. So there are connections to close for the alarm.

JMAL 10-23-2006 11:12 AM

hey guys, is this sensor something that might have been affected from headlight theft?

na, the thing is before i bought my car, it seems that the headlights were stolen, and so i think that one of the wires might have been disconnected during the theft or reinstallation of them.

I locked my car today with the window down. I then reached in and poped my hood (to give a lady a jump) and the alarm went off. There must be something paying attention to the hood, if not a sensor, then what?

Is there an underhood light that comes on?

JMAL 10-24-2006 07:42 AM

no they dont have that on the TL. i think its that part in the hood latch. anyone have any idea what that is called?

See part 34 in the pic above? Its built into the latch

AcuraKidd 10-24-2006 09:24 AM

so my latch is faulty?

how can i get to it to check whats wrong with it?

fsttyms1 10-24-2006 10:29 AM

the latchis probably fine. its possible its the wiring. I dont have my manual to look at to see how to test. It could be many things though. open each door seperately. does each door turn on the dome light? does the trunk turn on the trunk light?

AcuraKidd 01-13-2007 11:15 PM

well....after all this time I still haven't corrected this problem...

is there any way to diagnose this and then fix it, cause I wanna get shock sensors installed, but without the factory alarm working, the shock sensors wont work either, so could somebody please help me diagnose this problem.

AcuraKidd 01-14-2007 11:31 AM

bump...anybody?

AcuraKidd 01-15-2007 12:13 PM

so, I just called the Acura Dealer, and explained the problem to them. They told me that they'll have to perform a 1 hour diagnostic, which costs $125 + tax, and then when they figure out the problem, they'll charge me by the hour to fix it, and their hourly rate is $125. So I'm looking at atleast $250+ to get this fixed.

Edward'TLS 01-15-2007 02:53 PM

Gamezilla, if you think it's the hood sensor that's causing the problem. Unplug that hood sensor and short the sensor pin to ground. That should complete the alarm circuit and let you arm the alarm.

02TyPe_S_Tl 05-19-2011 01:02 PM

so did you ever get that fixed I got that same issue
