Function and form type 1

eBay have one for $600 shipped for 2002 accord but it's should fit my TL correct? Is there anywhere cheaper than $600? Thanks

03tLsNBP 12-15-2010 03:00 PM

it will be a direct bolt on. you might be able to find one in the Black Market for around $525 used. but $600 new is a good deal. do you have a link?

V_Langs_3.2TL 12-15-2010 04:07 PM

good deal. jump on it

R2D 12-15-2010 04:49 PM

600.00 new is a great deal!! u should get it asap

Special Ed 12-15-2010 04:59 PM

so just to get this straight the function and form type-1s for the accords fit the tl??? which ones is everyone getting for the 03 tl-s?? the type-1s for the 02 accord or another??

jjashaa 12-15-2010 05:08 PM

good to know... anyone notice a big difference in the type-1 compared to the type-2 or the type-2.5... preferences.... im in the market to get some here real soon.. and i was looking at them all

03tLsNBP 12-15-2010 06:08 PM

i didnt even know there was a type 2.5...

kdawg8526 12-16-2010 01:43 AM

the type 2's have damper control so you can adjust the softness and stiffness of the ride

cdn_rider 12-16-2010 09:11 AM

maybe this a dumb question but im new to coilovers ive always used springs and shocks. when you get coilovers they come with the shocks and struts already on it, no? sorry if its a retarded question.

yea they use the eibach ers springs and you can choose the spring weight i thing it was....

if u buy a full coilover kit it comes with all necessary hardware.. except camber kits usually

jjashaa 12-16-2010 10:24 AM

honest opinion...

type 2.5 is cool but just buy type 2 and save your money.. unless you want specific spring rates

as for type 2 vs type 1.. if you're very anal about the damping settings.. i suppose type 2/2.5 for you..

i was perfectly fine with just the type 1

OverGloc 12-17-2010 01:39 PM

Just ordered thanks for the feedback guys! Anybody that want one just search eBay for 2002 accord coilover. Now would a catback exhaust from a 4drs accord fit our TL?

jjashaa 12-17-2010 02:12 PM

the exhausts from the accord does fit with a little pipe extension.

OverGloc 12-17-2010 03:38 PM

Should bolt to out cat just fine? And where do I need to cut for the extension? Thanks for the speedy replie!!

Isn't there 2 different types for accord, 1 4cyl. version and 1 V6 type ? I think I saw this somewhere?

kdawg8526 12-19-2010 03:12 AM

i believe 98-02 4 cyl and v6 fitment are same

xtremex626 12-19-2010 07:46 PM

suspension components are interchangeable between the 99-03 tl and the 98-02 4cyl/v6 accord.

so are exhaust components but only between the 99-03 tl and the 98-02 v6 accord. if you fit an exhaust specifically made for a 99-03 tl onto a 98-02 v6 accord, it will be noticeably longer and if you fit an exhaust made for a 98-02 v6 accord, it'll be shorter.. which is why you would need an extension pipe.

Micheeellee 12-20-2010 01:50 AM

I was planning to pick these up.. anyone riding on the tien basics? What are your feedback on these coils?

kdawg8526 12-20-2010 01:52 AM

from what ive heard the teins dont go that low if you want to be totally slammed get the function forms

DaveS221 12-20-2010 06:18 PM

^x2 and that the teins don't go as low.

jjashaa 12-20-2010 06:26 PM

teins work by spring height...

imo, same concept as getting racing springs on stock shocks... drops the car a lot but you have less shock travel...

hello quicker blown shocks.

if you're planning to ride slammed, get something that has a adjustable lower shock body like megan, BC Racing, Function & Form, D2, Ksport, Blackwerks, NEX, Zeal, AMR, RS-R, etc etc.. jus the few off the top of my head... hehe

DaveS221 12-20-2010 06:28 PM

jjasha ftw! good thing u stick around azine!

I'm sure i could search but I'm lazy, what's the best combo for slightly lower and stock ride....or as close to as possible.

jjashaa 12-21-2010 01:49 PM

Tein H-Tech or H&R OE

thats as close as slightly dropped you can get.

tc5280 12-21-2010 01:51 PM

thanks man, i was thinking that and some aspecs would be nice for a daily driver in a somewhat bad climate. what kind of shocks?

jjashaa 12-21-2010 02:16 PM

tokico for close to stock ride..

tc5280 12-21-2010 02:25 PM

Im new to acura and looking to lower

So can someone give me the abc's on form function and accords and tl's? I dont know what all this means. I have a 99 Acura TL and want to lower it. WHat is the best recommendation? Coilover? Coilover sleeves? typical springs and shocks?

Welcome to the forum! There is a lot of information out there. It took me about 6 months of researching before I established the setup I used. Before your questions are answered I think you will help the fellow forum members by answering a few questions.

What kind of driving do you do? Do you like the OEM ride or would you like something stiffer? (No homo. :) ) Are you going to slam your car or is there any kind of look you would like your car to have over the coming years? If you want to go a certain way trust me..... it is best to buy the right parts now! I don't mean necessarily name brands. I just mean if you want to go for a slammed/hella flush/flush/Vip, etc. etc. etc. it is easier to put on the right parts as you go along your modding journey instead of swaping out parts every couple of years. Used parts will definitely become and option if you have enough patience because of the aging 2nd TL/CL, 6th Gen Accord platforms. Sorry guys, I loved my 2nd Gen TL!!!
