Replacement Fog Bulbs?

Has anyone found amber replacement bulbs for the new TL's fog lights yet? They're HB4 and I've searched the internet but have only been able to find them in white. I need them in the ambers so people won't mistaken them for high beams.

Amber???

BIGBLUU ----

You are right on! I have had numerous people flash their lights at me because they thought I had my highbeams on. The TL headlights are set-up like the old Integra. I had a '91 Intergra many years ago and I had the same problem. Please let the board know if you find amber bulbs.

Thanks!!!

Big Blu and all!

Yes, they are 9006, I tried the yellow Ions already, but they were too cream, and not enough yellow.

I too am sick of getting high beamed.

Here is a photo and link of my first attempt (but too soft a yellow)

http://www.imagestation.com/album/?i...20&mode=invite

The link has larger images.

I did return those and have ordered the gold colored bulbs (Max Gold Xenons) and expect them any day now from midnightmoose.com.

here is the link for the bulbs:
http://www.midnightmoose.com/9006colored.htm

Here are photos on and off:

http://www.midnightmoose.com/maxgoldgallery.htm

Anyway, others on A-TL have recomended them and there are many threads about midnight moose.

Installation only takes about 20-30 minutes (I did it for the yellow IONs already), make sure you wear gloves as your hands can get beat up, plus do not touch the glass as the oil from your skin (even very slight) will cause the bulb to shatter when lit.

Good luck, hope to post photos this weekend!

That's just my thoughts. because I know the HID is too bright for the incoming traffic. But as for the apperence-wise, it's not a bad idea...

Post some pics when you get them Max Golds installed. Very interested to see how they look, especially when they're only $20 for a pair. I replaced bulbs on previous vehicles with only PIAA and they're usually $50/pair and up. But they're awesome though.

SF Bay Area - lots of fog.

Will do! I am really picky, so it will be interesting to see the Max Golds, last time I replaced head lights, I too used the PIAA's.

I ripped out the yellow IONS the next day as I did not like them.

Four things to remember when replacing them, 1) read the manual, 2) note the direction to unlock the bulbs (this is realy tough as they are tight!) 3) Keep the plastic clips for the CAI cover out of the cover when replacing it as they can fall out of the cover and drop into the engine compartment, radiator support, or CAI (experianced them dropping) 4) rock the upper CAI air tube to get it to release from the lower tube, and make sure the tab lines up when replacing!

I cant wait to see the MAX Gold's. Here is a link to another one by phillips http://www.autolamps-online.com/halo...thercentre.htm but from there looks they may end the same as the yellow ions.

Other than appearance, does the color make a difference with true fog conditions?

I'm with Sherlock on this one. In fog, the lighting will be diminished and cars should not be high blinking you. Has anyone tried the stock bulbs in actual fog conditions?

I'm down in the Bay Area right now; drove the TL down. I ran into fog on the way down and the foglights worked okay. I've seen better. I'm hoping the new bulbs will help but I suspect that it'll only enhance the look of the vehicle. Foglights really need to be placed closer to the road.

The current foglights do work quite well in the rain.

I think if the TL had a vertical headlight stack there would be less high beam confusion.

i am surprised to hear that people actually do use the fog lights for "it's true purpose"....i've ordered xenon's for the fogs just because of the look...i have fogs in my maxima and personally, i can't tell THAT MUCH of a difference when they are on...i don't care if people high beam me, i will high beam them back so they know that those are not my high beams that's bothering them...lol...they will just have to understand the extreme brightness that a TL can provide

I've been using the Max Gold on my 02 for quite some time now. I have tried every other yellow/gold bulb on the market and this is wthout a doubt the best one. You'll be satisfied.

Wont do it justice, you can never tell the true color through digi pics. Just trust methat these are the closest thing to the lexus IS/GS fogs out there. They have last about 6 months, but they are so cheap I recently ordered 3 sets so I will always have back up bulbs for replacement.

Not good news that they only last 6 months (did you have them on all the time?).

My replacement order did come today, I will try to install and take photos, but it has been raining here today, and will tommorow

One of us will post photos, and sixspdbrd is correct, it is hard to get the true color and effect as the apature and shutter speed has to be just right or they will look too bright or they will bleed out. My last attempt was the best of 10 shots!

Manual daylight color balance and spot metering might help.
