my key fob doesn't work that well

my keyfob hasn't been working that well lately, i have to point it at the car and if i press lock, and then unlock it doesn't always work,

the trunk doesn't always work

getting the windows to roll down doesn't always work..

it's like the range is very bad and it's not very responsive.

Did you replace the battery in it?

Does your spare FOB work okay? If so then your new FOB from Mr. Heeltoe is bad and perhaps you should contact him.

It doesn't matter if it's brand new, batteries can go bad. Replace the battery first.

Hmmmm, may be the actual receiver in the car. Not sure exactly where it's located. But I think it's up front somewhere. Sorry, I'm not much help.

If your range doesn't seem far enough...try holding the fob against your chin while pressing the lock/unlock button. Some fobs have extended range like this.
I can't speak for my TL (never had to try), but it works for my BMW.

I tried with the TL, but the problem I have really isn't with range. It is with the randomness of the thing actually working. And yes the battery is fine.

I was kinda hoping someone could elaborate on the testing procedure above for the key fob reciever...The whole part 4 for testing the leads of the plug. I didn't really understand that. What tools would I need anyways?
