alpine says that new features added are details on map to show one way roads, there is no longer a male voice and the voice feed back (you say temp 68 and car repeats it) is gone, you can only say 68 degrees and the car will do it, no vice back.

Here's a question for you. I have an '06TL with navi - can I use the 4.62 update in my car? I'm in Canada and am moving to Halifax and need to get coverage in this area and apparently 4.62 has this coverage. I called Acura Canada but sadly enough no one there could give me a straight answer. TIA for the help!

Me too, just recently...it will be interesting to see if they accommodate.
If not, maybe someone who has the newer version will post it up some where where we can get it. Copy it as an iso image so it is exact

NAVI update
The price asked for the update is scandalous. The users should boycott the update. It does not make sense to pay so much for an update.
Before the ACURA, I had a Garmin GPS and the updates were 150$ almost every year. After numerous complaints from users, Garmin reduced the price of the updates to 75$.

I just purchased an '08 TL Type S which came with the 4.62. Seems nice to me. Don't know what the previous versions were like. It does still have a male and female voice, and it does repeat the voice commands. I don't usually zoom all the way in, but I work in a downtown area with all one way roads and don't recall anything donating them as such at the 1/8th of a mile zoom level.
Anyone working on hacks for 4.62? The trip and A/C one looks really cool. Is it a given that the older version hacks don't work on newer versions? I don't really know much about that kind of stuff.

Has anyone who has purchased an Acura since the release of the newest version had any luck trying to get the updated version for a reduced or no cost? I bought a '07 TL a couple weeks ago, after 4.62 was released, and my car came with 4.56. I think I may try calling Acura Client Services to see if there is anything that can be done. Anyone else try this?

Redmen34,
I can't believe Acura would be so cheap as to not upgrade your system with the latest since you purchased your Tl after the update was released.
Let us know how you make out.
I'm going to ask next week when I go to my dealer, but I purchased about a week prior to release; so I'm not too hopeful

I casually asked my dealer about the Navi Update and the service manager went into his office and handed me a copy.
He indicated that he gets a few every update and happily hands them to whomever asks.

This makes me feel real confident about my dealer..
Went there today to get some work done on a due order, and asked about the 4.62 update.
They said they didn't know anything about it, and that their computer shows 4.56a as the current version. While at the dealership, I used the computer they have for customers to use while waiting for service work to look up the status of the updates on the Alpine site.
The Alpine site said they are on backorder.
So maybe not all dealerships have the new discs yet; or I got fed a line, which I doubt cause I say the results of his search.

Anyone else with a new purchase[post September] have any stories about trying to get a new disc from a dealer?

The new update 4.62 is on backorder because of 2 main glitches that were found. If you have the 4.62 update you should contact Alpine for reimbursement. One of the glitches is that the nav goes into the IN-Line factory diagnostic screen by itself after you download 4.62. The other glitch is that the disc will never load & you'll just see the picture of the globe...
and Acura isn't going to provide you 2007 owners w/the newest updated disc. The dealer may provide it to you but that would be up to them. The vehicle comes standard with whichever disc was available @ the time the vehicle was manufactured. It doesn't matter when you purchased the vehicle. You purchased a 2007 model so you got the 2007 update. Why should they give you the 2008 update?

I think this would be a good customer relations move. Yes, I understand that when you buy last year's model that it's your choice and there may be some sacrifices, but for something like a navigation DVD, which probably doesn't cost them much it would be a nice gesture to make sure the owner's have the latest DVD when they purchase their car. I would compare it to Apple computers. They released their new operating system last Friday, but I believe anyone who bought a new computer during the month of October was given a free upgrade to the new operating system when it was released. And that was buying before the updated operating system. With Acura, I'm only thinking if you bought after the updated DVD was released. With that said, I do only think it would be a good customer relations move and not something that Acura should do or that I'm entitled to. Even though I bought the car after the 4.62 updated was released, I still did buy an '07 and that would be one of the sacrifices in doing do. But I saved so much money by getting an '07 over an '08 that it was worth having to pay for the updated DVD if I choose to do so.

If you want the 2008 updated disc standard then buy a 2008. In addition, it's not as easy to just send out a disc seeing how they're manufactured/distributed by Alpine.
To me it's all about customer relations and a higher quality brand providing it. Although not the exact same situation, you could also compare it to an instance where someone buys a nice LCD TV from Best Buy. A week later, the TV's price is dropped by $200 or goes on sale. Best Buy will refund that difference in price difference generally during a 30 day period. The people that bought the TV 4 months ago are out of luck, just like someone who bought an '07 before the updated disc was released. Again, not saying Acura is obligated, but you could use that logic.
Also, if Acura did choose to make sure owners had the most recent disc update at the time of purchase, I do not see why it would not be too difficult to set up a system where at the time of purchase, the buyer would receive some sort of code to put in on the website where updated discs are purchased that would cover the cost minus shipping.
