NGK iridiums, no better one for the TL out there in my opinion.

I run the same-ngk iridium- thats what is stock on gen3 and the upgrade for gen2
There is 1 member testing E3 plugs with alleged 3-4 mpg increase
Dont know it that was old plugs vs new plugs, or heads up test of new iridium to new E3
but he says they are working good.
New plugs usually net 1-2mpg if over 60-70k miles on the old ones
Pulse plugs also tested with little gain- we already have a high disharge igntion

seafoam (or similar product) the intake system-intake manifold a few days to a week before you change the plugs. Makes a clean place for the spark to fire in!

the laser plug is not needed for us- it refers to how they weld the parts together
NGK Iridium for gen3 ngk iridium IX for gen2
Local parts stores carry them and will get you the right one- type S uses different number.
Seafoam DIY covers all you need to know on the subject- use 1 can in 1/2 tank of gas and 1 can in the intake vac port at the TB, plus spray clean the TB plate

My buddy is running a full test on these. E3 is not as good as NGK Iridiums. Period.
The only plug that has a higher pulse is Pulstar but for 6 it will cost you $150. They are warrantied for 50k miles.
I have video but it's a large file. I'll try to upload in the future comparing the NGK vs. Pulstar. I don't know if anyone is willing to install them but they have plugs for the TL. For the value and performance I'd stick with NGK 6 for $40.

01tl4tl - So is it still fine to use the NGK Lasers?
I went down to my local parts supply shop, but they didn't have any NGK Iridiums in stock at the moment, so I just went ahead and got the Lasers.

I'd take them back.. find another place or better yet.. price shop online and get them shipped.

Why do people buy whatever is available when they are looking for a specific part?

Mr. Huynh.. Are you talking about NGK LASER IRIDIUMS?.. kinda confused here.. if so then you're okay. If you got NGK LASER PLATINUMS I'd take them back. If you were looking for NGK IX, like 01TL4TL said is only for 2nd Gen TL's and MDX's.

here is the ngk official page with description of each type plug
http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/product...x.asp?mode=nml
Dont the lasers cost more too?
All I can say for certain is the ngk Iridium ix (gen2) or straight Iridium (gen3) are well documented to work and are the approved plug by acura, have not tried lazer in my 01
gen2 came with ngk platinum- upgrade to iridium ix is ok~

Yes Sir- we have the BEST ones right here for you!! (whatever we have in stock is what you need!)
A ziner has been told that about ac-delco, and bosch , and ......sure they are the right length (maybe) and heat range but thats about it
The stock ngk have a very fine ground wire and superfine center electrode, thats what makes them special
You can bet acura did a lot of research on what to use to get max mileage for CAFE testing and work with VTEC ability,,,they even last a reasonable time!

read the plug DIY for help- use a 3 and 6 inch extensions so you can get the total length required thru a narrow space-
1 foot vac tubing- attach to plug top and lower into hole, start threads by hand so you can make sure they are not going in cross-threaded.. the worst thing!!
Use plug anti sieze grease (use lightly), a torque wrench is helpful to get them set perfect but can be done by hand-see box directions
Gen3 remove the strut bar to make your life easier
Do 1 front plug first to see how the job goes together with clips and what to pull on or not to! then do the rears because they are a pain, (use a blanket to protect the car and lean over the side or front) then do the other 2 fronts to finish on an easy note
Remember- Seafoam thru the main vac port above the TB -on the manifold (gen3)
Buy the spray can version DEEP CREEP its way easier to use
Give the plugs a clean combustion area to work in

Note- do the plugs when engine is overnight cold- makes it better for you and gets the torque correct

Thanks for the info 01tl4tl. I haven't driven my car for more than 3 months now, when the snow goes away I'm going to insure it and take it out. I need to give it an oil change, new spark plugs, and sea foam. Is there an order you would recommend doing these in?
Majofo - I get a major discount at Lordco, which is an automotive parts store in Canada. I think the list price was roughly 29.00 CND, and I got them for 15.50 CND.
