Just realized how many little dings and dents/scratches I have after 98k miles of ownership .. the rest of the interior (minus the crapola leather seats) seems to have weathered fairly well (oh, and minus all the burnt out steering bulbs).

Saw a few sites where they were about $80 a piece, no thanks .. I'll pay up to $50 per side... any tips on online sites guys?

Roughly $56 from here. Either part #5 or #9. I think their shipping rates might be slightly higher than forementioned site. But I ordered the same piece from them about a year ago. No complaints.

Can those trim pieces be removed without damaging them? I could easily refinish mine if I could get them off.

Absolutely.. I find it easier to remove from the back near the seats. The tricky trim tabs are near the stereo head unit / Navi unit. Get a trim tool or small flathead with vinyl taped around it and release the tabs so you don't break any. You may have to fill-in the indented sections if you have any before refinishing to make it look good.

^ yep, that is where I got mine. I could not find new ones any cheaper. I have replaced mine twice. I am always wearing some sort of girly bracelet to scratch mine up.
I actually have 2 sets that are NOT in perfect condition I will give away for free. If you want them just let me know, you will have to pay shipping tho

So, I just get the taped up blade of a screw driver and GENTLY pry at the edges starting at the bottom? I was thinking of polishing and clear coating them if I can get them off.
Mine aren't dented, just scratched.

You can actually remove the back with gentle pressure / no edge needed.. but when you get to the top you need an edge / trim tool to release the tabs.

I'm working out a deal with CarrieLynn for her extra trim pieces and I'll probably do a write-up in the coming weeks and we'll see how it goes. Just remember to sand it down.. put a primer coat/s.. If you want to do a gradient / pattern you can try out a pair of panty hose / leggings stretched over or they may sell patterns at a hobby store. Otherwise just lay a couple of coats of your chosen color and you can clear a couple coats.

what color/paint do you refinish it with -- it's textured aluminum to begin with .. anything that replicates that?

I think you have to mask it. I've used leggings with some fair success on some other hobby paint jobs. I'm going to try a few different things and see how they turn out. I'm also going to try vinyl and see how that turns out as well. DecalFX.com has some real nice skins and I may pick up a couple of sheets.

Paint? I'm going to try duplicolor. I'm thinking of a couple different metal tones.. even bronze.. we'll see.

Yeah, I'm going to try and do one like the OE design but I have been considering changing the trim on my car from wheels to the interior. If you don't mind waiting a while I'll do a few trials and let you know how it turns out with pics.

Yea, refinishing would be easy but it def wouldn't match the rest of the car.

Just pay the $120 and move on. I mean, they lasted you 100k before...$120 for another 100k miles seems like a deal to me.

well if you guys aren't in a big rush this could turn out to be DIY.. save maybe $100. I'll probably spend 1/2 the price experimenting but it'll be worth it if you guys can save some dough. I suspect many members have at least a couple of scratches or dings on it that bother them.

Any easy way to remove these aluminum pieces in the console? I started at the bottom towards the back and was able to remove, but when I get towards the radio, they don't seem to budge. Is there a way to get to the tabs from the one of the sides? I really don't want to tear up the dash.

Any help would be a appreciated.....

you will really need to pull on them... they are tough to get out.

I use a thin trim tool to press in the tabs. The first tab is at the elbow curve on top, and you need to press from the outside in to release it.. then there are two smaller tabs in the middle that you release pressing inside out, but these may come out with a little upward pressure and the last tab is on the top pressing from the outside in, but at this point it should come out pretty easily.

Thanks for these tips. I just got the driver's side trim off in hopes of installing the Neo ipod interface tonight. That trim removal took a while- I kept thinking I was going to break it towards the top skinny section. I finally jammed a butter knife in and started poking around until I heard the trim pop at the connector points. It eventually came out with no scratches or mars- hope it goes in easier.

Once again, I love this site. Had to go to the site a couple of times to search and find this thread.

Yeah once you push in the tabs they come out pretty easy.. You can also pull them straight out as suggested by Csmeance.. just be careful not to bend / damage them, especially at the bend. They pop in much easier.

Too expensive.. definitely not worth doing.. If you want the carbon fiber look you should order some carbon fiber vinyl from decalfx.. real easy to apply.

Because I will buy a used car in a week, but I saw little scuffs on interior. where is center colsone near by the shifter. so I might wanted to change that to carbon fiber than stock one. Thanks anyway.

^ that's not the aluminum trim.. that's the rear console trim between the aluminum trim pieces. That's also a standard price, not much cheaper than acuraoemparts or other part suppliers.

Check with Prestige.. they're sponsors of Azine, they might make you a deal or do what I did and scrape off the stickers and do a custom paint job.

i would just wrap them in 3M vinyl. much cheaper and looks better IMO.

here is what i did with mine. i used a combination of black carbon fiber and graphite carbon fiber vinyl. you can get the stuff off eBay or stickercity.com

That looks awesome, how long did it take you and how is it holding up? ohh BTW I did end up putting the rims and tires on my car, just waiting for a nice day to wash it and take a picture to post. But now I'm in need of an a-spec kit for the shocks.

for the center console part (the part pictured) probably took me 2-3 hours taking my time. that doesn't include removing all the parts first though. i still have to do all 4 doors and a few other trim pieces.

it's holding up great. thick, pliable material. i don't think i'll have any issues with it degrading over time. this stuff is built to last.
