Front end noise

Sooooo.....

This morning I'm leaving my house and I come to a stop at the end of my street and I hear two cycles of popping, one right after the other.

The noise only occurs when the car is coming to a stop and the needle is around 5-10 mph. I have never noticed it before. I also felt the vibrations in my foot on the pedal.

I hear the noise coming from the front driver's side wheel.

This popping continued until the car warmed up a little bit and then it went away.

Any ideas?

I have this problem too, couple months ago I took it to the shop(not because of this problem) and the guy told me I should change the axle for some reason. Idk if this is the reason.

Inspect your drive shaft boots. A broken boot loses the grease and begins to make noise, usually when turning, but might do also when decelerating.

Other possibilities are loose ball joints; upper, lower, tie-rod bj's.

I just had my ball joints replaced in august.

I'll check them out and let you all know.

It also makes the noise when I turn to the left. When I turn to the right it is fine.

But no matter what, when I stop before the car warms up, it makes a popping noise once and then again. Kind of like a shift down.

^ My brakes do that before they're warmed up to the proper temp. Maybe it's the same thing?

No. I am bored and nothing to say about this problem so I thought why not just say hi to ya people... This is what happens when you get a day off from work after almost a month and have nothing to do because your brain doesn't work anymore...

1G side was dead from last few days.

I replaced both drive shafts, because of the shimmy. I assume you'd know if was the CV's. Mine were fine, so I replaced the whole drive train.Not only the shafts but the front wheel bearings. They're guaranteed for life but they were dry and rattling. When I test drove I drove around the Wal Mart parking lot. All good. Went to the stop sign and had nothing. They lock in and I kinda knew that I didn't see the left side through. So, jack her up, finally click the axle and away I went.
If I had of diagnosed it correctly, I'da known that it was the bearings. But I replaced both drive axles anyway. Cost me fifty dollars each. But with 230,000 and counting it was money well spent. Look to your front wheel bearings, and if you decide to do it yourself, understand that you must press them to a certain pressure. THere are DIY's here for this.

Bump...

I believe that I have figured out the problem.

Since it only happens when it brakes, I am suspecting this noise to be coming from a "frozen" caliper.

It makes sense since when the car warms up it goes away.

All of the symptoms make sense to me.

What do you all think?
