Smile 6MT TL first Time At TRack!!

Last Sunday was my first time at track )Island Dragway, New Jersey) with my first manual car lol My Best time was a 14.8 with 98.37 trap speed with VSC ON (so nervous forgot to take it off lol)!!!. I was very impressed considering it is completely stock besides a resonator and mid muffler delete.!!

My Time slip. (not too clear)

Work on your launch and you should go down at least half a second.

Thanx everyone, ill def try again. Yea def need to work on my launch i was spinning like crazy. The track did suck though no traction, everyone was having a hard time. I also think the vsc slowed me down like crazy cause when i ran 14.8 i had a perfect launch. The traction control messed up everything lol.

Practice practice man lol my first run was like 14.6 or something. After half a day you'll learn the correct launch RPM. Like someone told me, try launching at 4K RPMs and work your way down or the other way around.

good news/bad news is that you have a lot of improvement to work on and that will give you mid-low 14s.

As noted by others, you'll need to try launching at different RPMS and find the right balance between wheel spin and best times. You'll have/need some wheel spin otherwise you'll bog down or won't build up enough energy off the line. 3-4k sounds like a good starting point, but can't really say as one would actually need to drive a given car to get a feel for it.

Wow, that's really slow. A decently fast person could outrun your car in the first 60' Enough ball-busting, next time at the strip, don't get so greddy with the throttle. Often times you'll find that you really can't go full throttle until the top of 1st gear. Even with a massive bogged launch, your TL should easily be able to pull a mid 2.3 60 foot. I suggest launching at 2000rpms and slipping the clutch a bit. That should be an instant 2.3 60'. If you bog on the run, give it a little more throttle and work from there. A good launch on street tires will have some chirping of the tires for most of 1st. That means you're right at the cusp of full traction. Another thing to try is to rev up to your launch rpm, slip the clutch just enough so that it's almost catching. When it's time to go, release the clutch a bit so you feel the car roll and then quickly release the clutch while feeding it gas. Getting too greedy with the clutch and/or throttle shocks the drivetrain and tires, resulting in excessive wheelspin.

A mid 2.3 60' will land you a 14.4-14.5@98-99mph. A lower 2.2 (which will take lots of practice), will get you into the 14.2s. No question.

Nice run man. Like everyone said, practice launching and you will see much better times! And I thought my 60' was bad Lol jp man. 1st time at the track is a big shocker. Most people don't realize it's totally different than driving on the street. Good luck!

LOL....don't feel bad. I'm a pretty good MT driver and I went to the track last year. Only got in one run before somebody blew oil all over the track and they shut down to 1/8 mile.

14.61 on a 2.61

I've been to that track before. Lots of muscle, only a few imports show up. Last time I was there I ran my supercharged 04 GTO and couldn't get traction worth a damn! I was running a 13 flat at around 105, so don't feel bad!

yea wat's up with that? When i was there everyone was telling me that not only was it my first time at track, but the track was slippery as hell. I went with my buddies and brother who all have 2001-2003 nissan maxima's and no one was hooking up and they been drag racing for a while.
