2 obvious way to tell besides registering the car
open hood, if engine lettering on plastic is not red, it's not a type S or look at the seats, if they are not preforated, it's not a type S |

How do you know if your car is an SS would it say it next to 3.2 logo?

no SS, only type s. And the letters on the engine would be red, it would say s on the back next to the 3.2, seats would be perforated, white guages, etc......But judging by your username you have a 99 and there were no s types in 99....
