No lie, OP is not being to smart about this whole thing. Just get to the cops and let them deal with it. You got scammed and it's going to be difficult to get your money back. Maybe insurance can do something about it, that is if you have insurance already.

2 obvious way to tell besides registering the car

open hood, if engine lettering on plastic is not red, it's not a type S

or

look at the seats, if they are not preforated, it's not a type S

How do you know if your car is an SS would it say it next to 3.2 logo?

no SS, only type s. And the letters on the engine would be red, it would say s on the back next to the 3.2, seats would be perforated, white guages, etc......But judging by your username you have a 99 and there were no s types in 99....

i think i know what you are talking about. all of the TL's have "SS"

its considered Sport Shift in which you can manually shift your gears. Once you are in "D5" move your knob over to the left then shift up as you please...wouldn't recommend down shifting though.
