Exclamation 3G TL Service Department (AKA: "THE GARAGE"): Questions & Answers- CHECK HERE FIRST!

NOTICE

POSTED 21 APR 2017

DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL, MOST OF THE LINKS IN THE 3G GARAGE DO NOT WORK.

It appears that the non-working links were deleted or otherwise corrupted.

There are some that work so we hope that the topic you are interested in is still available. If not, we apologize for the circumstances but there is no way to get it corrected.

Size: 1,019 Bytes Important Recall Information

TSB 08-016: Safety Recall: 2004–08 TL Power Steering Feed Hose Leak

Background
Prolonged high under-hood temperatures may cause the power steering hose to deteriorate prematurely and may cause the hose to crack and leak power steering fluid. Power steering fluid leaking onto a hot catalytic converter will generate smoke and could lead to an under-hood fire.

TSB 08-013: Saftey Recall: Windshield Wiper Motor Does Not Work

Background

A breather port on the windshield wiper motor vents warm air from the wiper motor during operation. If water enters the breather port, it can cause corrosion that could make the wiper motor stop working. A non-operating wiper motor increases the risk of a crash in certain conditions.

TSB 07-017: Safety Recall: Fuel Pump Relay May Cause Engine No-Start or Stalling

Background

A manufacturing fault with the fuel pump relay (PGM-FI Main Relay 2) could cause a coil wire inside the relay to break. If this happens, the fuel pump will not operate and the engine may not start. If the relay fails while driving, the engine may stall without warning and a crash could occur.

TSB 05-043: Safety Recall: Right Front Impact Sensor Is Loose

Background

On some 2006 TLs, the bolts on the right (passenger’s side) front impact sensor were not properly torqued. If the bolts loosen or fall out, the sensor may fail to properly detect a crash, possibly resulting in delayed or non-deployment of the passenger's airbag.

TSB 05-013: Safety Recall: Fuse Box May Cause a No-Start or Stalling Condition

Background

A loose terminal in the under-dash fuse/relay box may cause the fuel pump to lose power. If the fuel pump becomes inoperative, the engine may not start. In the worst case, if the fuel pump loses power while driving, the engine could stall without warning, and a crash could occur.

Calling ACS or checking on Owner Link of Acura.com would be the best way to get update... Please click here for more information

2004 TL's through VIN 4A014224 (5AT) are affected by this recall. Or, you could call ACS, 800-382-2238, and would be told if your VIN is involved. Please contact with your dealer after receiving the recall letter from Acura. The letter will be generated automatically by Acura's computer system, which means higher mileage 04TLs may not recieve earlier notificaiton.

Vehicles with affected VINs wouldn't indicate "you have the failed tranny".

The estimated time of processing this recall and installing the oil jet kit: an hour.

Acura won't be able to perform all the cars' check-out at the same time. To accomplish the recall may take up to a few months. If you really feel uncomfortable with this recall issue, please call to the dealer and schedule for the checkup ASAP.

Note from NHTSA

Summary:
ON SOME MINI VANS, SPORT UTILITY AND PASSENGER VEHICLES, CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS CAN RESULT IN HEAT BUILD-UP BETWEEN THE COUNTERSHAFT AND SECONDARY SHAFT SECOND GEARS IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, EVENTUALLY LEADING TO GEAR TOOTH CHIPPING OR GEAR BREAKAGE.

Consequence:
GEAR FAILURE COULD RESULT IN TRANSMISSION LOCKUP, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy:
ON VEHICLES WITH 15,000 MILES OR LESS, THE DEALER WILL UPDATE THE TRANSMISSION WITH A SIMPLE REVISION TO THE OIL COOLER RETURN LINE TO INCREASE LUBRICATION TO THE SECOND GEAR. ON VEHICLES WITH MORE THAN 15,000 MILES, THE DEALER WILL INSPECT THE TRANSMISSION TO IDENTIFY GEARS THAT HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED DISCOLORATION DUE TO OVERHEATING. IF DISCOLORATION EXISTS, THE TRANSMISSION WILL BE REPLACED IF DISCOLORATION IS NOT PRESENT, THE DEALER WILL PERFORM THE REVISION TO THE OIL COOLER RETURN LINE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON MAY 12, 2004. OWNER NOTIFICATION FOR THE ACCORD AND ACURA MODELS WILL BEGIN ON JULY 26, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.

Notes:
HONDA RECALL NOS. P30 (ODYSSEY AND PILOT), P31 (MDX), P38 (ACCORD) AND P39 (ACURA). CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION’S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
