Hot/cold control, control valve cable?
i talked about a problem last year where *sometimes i would get only hot air unless i changed the temperature to minimum, and every now and then i would get hot air even when the temperature was set relatively low (e.g. 20 deg C)
it seemed like a number of people had this issue, and to be honest, i think my wife's 08 accord is doing the same thing. i looked into this DIY for the heater control valve:

i bought the parts but it started getting cold last fall, so i didn't do the replacement, but i did almost a dry run and checked the valve and cable.
i know the part to replace for the DIY seems to be the valve, but i noticed that the valve seems to have no trouble moving. instead, it seems that the cable is what doesn't seem to move properly.
when i have the temperature on LO, it moves all the way. but for other temperature settings, the cable doesn't move until i put the setting up to HI. the valve itself seems to move very smoothly. so it seems like the cable that can't seem to get all the in-between settings....
so i think replacing the valve won't do anything. anyone have this issue? did you find it was the cable giving you problems?
furthermore, i can't seem to figure out where the cable goes and if it's feasible to replace the cable...if that's even the problem. thoughts?
thanks
