^ That's exactly why I got them! I love the Type S rims but wanted something with a slighty more aggressive fitment and larger size for the summer. I almost bought them for my Mazdaspeed3 when I had it.

Eh Jon is there any chance your Mazdaspeed 3 was two toned with the top half black?

^ Nope wasn't me! Mine was just Crystal White Pearl. Man I wish I had both the TL-S and the Mazdaspeed3.

Damn! Love all the mods you did to your car. I'm not really that into mods but everything you did really complimented your car nicely. I think I'm gonna install those Nokya Hyper Yellow DRLs, they look nice. I say keep it as is or just work on performance mods now, your car is perfect.

Hi jon, im new to the TL world, as i just picked up a '08 TL-S and wanted to find out if you, or anybody else could tell me if your entire car has the Aspec kit, or just the side skirts?? Sorry guys, a noob on these forums :-) just picked the car up last week, and want to start modding away!

Thanks! I wanted to make changes that looked like they should have come with the car not something tacked on just for the sake of modding. I may add a Progress rear sway bar in the future but I don't think I'll do too much else performance wise.

Nice Mazda you had! I don't like a ton of hatches, but that and the GTI are two of my favorites.

Thanks! It was a quick car and handled great but the TL-S is so much more comfortable and has nicer features.

Hey! I haven't done a lot to the car lately since it's winter but I did manage to a couple things done.
- headlights by JnC: blacked out (glossy), chrome strips painted gloss black, amber diffusers wrapped in CF, zkw-r lenses, had headlights wrapped in clear protection film, Morimoto 5000K headlight and fog light bulbs
- wrapped the chrome bar above the rear license plate in CF ..I did this a while back but didn't get a good photo until today

I've been thinking of wrapping the polished chrome bar above the license plate for a long time. I like the way yours loloks, Jon. But the patterns don't match, which holds me back from doing it.

Since you've done the bar above the license plate, you should consider wrapping the chrome around the front grill too. Then you'll have consistency from front to back.

Just snapped a few pics of the Morimoto 5K headlight (with ZKW-R lenses) and fog light bulbs for a member. I'm not a photographer and it was FREEZING out so hopefully these are ok. FYI...the driveway is on an incline and slopes a bit to the left so the actual headlight cutoff is straight when parked on a level surface 25' from a wall. In the last pic I tried to filter out as much glare as possible.

Thanks for posting. I have morimoto 5K D2S bulbs sitting in my garage right now, waiting for better weather and more time to get to installing them. These pics make me happy to have gone with them.

No problem. I'm sure you'll be happy with them as well.

Thanks! I went with the swap program with JnC. He modded a set as I requested and I sent mine to him when I was finished installing the new lights.

Hey Steven ..sorry just noticed this now. I agree about the polished chrome bar. My plans are to have it painted ASM along with the remaining chrome bits on the grille. I'll then have to install paint protection film on the painted chrome in the front.

Thanks! I'm assuming you're referring to the 18's ...they're TSW Nurburgring in matte gunmetal.

Was playing around with the center caps a bit for the summer rims ...got some black lugs too. The black and white center cap should match the brembos.

I got some 20smd license plate lights to replace the crappy ones I have now. ..maybe install these on the weekend. It's too cold now!

Damn I'm sad to see someone beat me to the Nurburgring wheels especially since our cars would be twins if I did get them although I like the machined look on 19s. Did you have any issues with fitment? I.e. are you running hub rings? I saw that you aren't running spacers but I am a minimalist with wheels and don't like the idea of adding rings and spacers and what not.

^ that made me LOL! Sounds like we bought our cars months apart too - bought mine and the Nurburging's last July. No issues with fitment but am running hub rings.

How did you go about taking off the chrome bar that sits above the license plate assembly? The one you wrapped in carbon fiber? I'm in the midst of having a brand new front grille assembly painted for my '08 TL, but haven't figured out how to get this piece of the back end for painting. I was going to buy a new OEM one, but they don't sell it as an individual part.

If you could let me know that would be great, nobody wants to answer this question!

P.S. nice car!

Thanks! If I remember correctly, you start by removing the clips holding the carpet to the inside of the trunk lid and get it all pulled back. There are 4 small nuts you need to remove which are a little awkward to get to - these are holding the piece that the license plate, camera and reverse lights are mounted to (the grey striped piece in my pic). I disconnected the reverse lights, license plate lights and unbolted/unscrewed the camera. There are also a bunch of clips around that license plate frame piece that will be released when you pull the frame piece out. Unscrew the chrome bar that is attached to the frame piece, wrap or paint then assemble in reverse order.

Hope that helps.

Jon

No new pics but March 2, 2013 I had new Moog rear stabilizer links and a Progress rear sway bar installed. I'm looking forward to getting my summer wheels back on and taking some night tight back roads. I was throwing the car around corners last night and had no noticeable body roll.

All that's left on my wish list at the point is: J-Pipe (not immediate) and painting the chrome around the front grille. Maybe some new front pads as well to reduce the brake dust.
