Hello TL nation...am looking to get black vinyl done on the roof of my 09 TL which is WDP.

Found a place in Toronto that will do it for $150 - the only thing I am stuck on now is should I go with a Matte look or Glossy?

Which will work best with WDP and on a car and whats the advantages/disadvantages of either choice?

Of if someone can show me somepics of both that would be great too....

Although I REALLY like matte exterior color, but I think a Glossy Black roof will make the TL more classy! ^__^

I don't think a vinyl roof on the car would look good at all. Something about a vinyl roof (or heaven forbid the landau roof LOL) just reeks of mid 70's Detroit sedans.

Just my opinion, but if you like that style, go for it.

atleasty with a roof overlay i felt that once im done with it or it goes bad it easily will come off without messing up the paint

i want to go with the black roof overlay look, tint, and black rims with chrome lip

also not sure if i should leave the shark fin white or cover it in black as well

that'll look great either way. A friend of mine actually mentioned the same thing the other night. I think glossy is the way to go. It's just classier IMO

I hope you don't mind my doing this, and I really don't want to make you mad....

But I wish you would reconsider this.

In the first place, $150 is very, very cheap for a large high quality roof, it seems to me.

But even more seriously, there is no natural line at the back of the car which could form the logical border for your vinyl roof, and an attempt to create a line with metal trim is going to further complicate the lines of the car at the rear quarter.

Just one stupid old man's opinion, of course.

I had my A1 done at that dealership this past saturday and they've still got that car in the showroom. I'll be there again one day this week to have part of my center console replaced, want me to take some pics if I see it?
