Cracked dashboard in '04 TL
#1244
That looks awful because of the airbag hole and you would still see the cracks through said airbag hole as well. My dash hasn't cracked yet as my car just has 30k miles but it if ever does I will be blowing Acura apart until they fix it. I don't think my OCD could handle it...

Check with your Acura dealer. My dealer replaced my 04 TL dash for $200. Mine was cracked around the passenger air bag and apparently Honda views that as a safety defect/hazard and has a replacement program. I know its $200 but the normal cost is roughly $2000.00. The also replace all the dash lights while they were in there.

Well I found a crack on my dash 2 days ago, mine is behind the gauge cluster on the harder plastic part.
It cracked when the temperature dropped to about 15 degrees that one night, the next morning I saw the crack, so this isn't all about heat, and I live in TX.
Will the crack spread? It doesn't look too bad right now, so I don't know if I should go through the hassle of dealing with Acura.

I haven't had the chance to take mine to Acura since I came back from deployment but what I did do was drill/burned a small hole at the end of the crack on the dash to prevent it from spreading any further. That was Dec I think and no new cracks. still looks like shyt though , gonna get it fixed one day

They normally don't sell it in Japan but I found one back in '10 imported from the states and they wanted $20K for it. I just waited and paid half that price for one when I got here.
Now time to buy this cover once I fail with my repair attempt lol…

I am 2nd owner. It had 17k miles when I got it from Drivers Way. Now it has 208k miles. My dealer has maintained it since then so I have a good prior relationship with my dealership.

^^ That looks quite good. The only criticism (and this would be directed at Coverlay) is that the small ridge in front of the center speaker should have been a little more recessed or lowered such that it doesn't look like a ridge when installed. Otherwise, I like it. For protection from the sun, I put a Dashtex cover on mine (I don't have any cracks), and although I don't love the look, I'm used to it.

To all who have posted here - THANKS! I am a long time lurker here and read through most of this thread last week looking for what has worked and what hasn't.
Long story short: '05 TL bought new from Hall Acura in Virginia Beach, VA. 68K miles, stored outdoors for the most part, first dash crack right over the passenger side air bag about six months ago and 2nd/3rd/4th crack followed soon thereafter.
I took the car to Hall Acura Newport News (same dealer, different location) last week to see what they could do. They put me in touch with Acura customer service, who put me in touch with the district manager, who took down info and indicated he would talk with dealer and get back to me in a couple of days. About an hour on the phone.
District manager mentioned nebulous "good will" factor, which didn't make me feel good because I NEVER have the dealer work on the car for anything other than warranty work. The only good will I had was also buying a new '01 CL-S (at a different dealer) prior to the TL.
So over the past couple of days I've resigned myself to buying the dash pad shown in previous posts and grumbling through the DIY fix for $200 and change.
Three days later (today) I heard from the dealer and they are comping 100% of the dashboard replacement, and will provide me with a loaner while the repair is taking place. Needless to say I was shocked -- based on everyone else's info here I was expecting north of $500. They have the dash in stock and will fix it tomorrow. Don't know if this helps anyone else's case or not -- I'm guessing this situation is very dealer-dependent.

God damn it.
I discovered a small crack along the passenger side airbag today. What's the latest on this nonsense? Hope for a "goodwill" from corporate + labor?
edit: Should mention I'm not interested in covers.

I would recommend calling Acura before just heading on into the dealership. While you might luck out and catch the service manager on a good day this is usually something they need to run by a DM before they will fix on goodwill.

I'm a new member here and I just bought an 04 TL with nav. The interior is in great condition - must have been garaged. No cracks in the dash yet. Exterior and interior color are silver. I'm clear about prepping the dash with aero 303. Is there any cover I can use that keeps the original look of the interior, and prevents cracks from happening? I live in Atlanta; it gets very hot, and I don't want to have to cover the windshield every time I go out.

'05 TL - Dashboard Cracks and Cruise Control Ends
I'm driving on I95 a few days ago, in Boynton Beach, FL, area and hear some cracking sounds. Look around and see big vertical crack down passenger side of dash. Stops about 4-5" from bottom of dash. At about the same time, cruise control stops working. Have no idea if airbag is affected. Crack has lengthened about 1/2-1" since. Need to get to Acura and see if anyone will help with fix.
Ugh!!!! Had been thinking about TLX, but not sure this company is one to stay with.

An update on mine:
Crown Acura arranged a goodwill with Acura corporate to cover 85% of the parts and labor. Out of pocket was about $265.
This was the extent of the crack when I brought it in:
