99 shifter knob doesn't fit

I went on eBay and bought a wooden authentic shifter knob to replace my current one but they don't fit although it's it says is compatible for 2nd gen Acura TL's. I thought it was strange and perhaps the guy mislabeled the shifter so I bought a different one from a different seller and ran into the same issue as the last. Is it because the 99 has a different transmission than the rest of the 2nd gen lineup?

My shifter knob's (right) inner diameter seems much bigger than the one I bought (left)

The user never specified the thread pattern, but he did mention that the knob came off of a 2003 Acura TL. I’ll attach a photo so show the full description.

Looks like the 99TL might have had a different shift knob thread pattern.

Yup it does, just got back from the auto store because I bought a few bolts to try threading them.

My 1999 TL knob is M10x1.5

The knob I bought from the 2003 TL is M8x1.25

Now I just need to find a M10x1.5 female to M8x1.25 male adapter.

I bought a mint burlwood knob off of a 2002 CL on ebay that was M10x1.5 for $35. However, my shifter bolt thread is M8x1.25 haha. Maybe cut your losses and buy another that fits? Doubt you're gonna find that type of adaptor with the length needed to reach knob threads....

Luckily my brother knows how to use hand tools and was able to widen the threading to M10x1.5.

The method he used one of those pre-drill bits that were the size under the bolt, he then grabbed a M10x1.5 bolt and ratcheted it all the way in to create the threading. The end result is it fits like my current one. Now I’ll grab Loctite Threadlocker to further solidify it. (Although it doesn’t need it as it’s a perfect fit)

Here’s the end result:

Looks fantastic! I had to use a thread tapper to get mine to fit, which is the same end result as what you and your brother accomplished
