Tpms
How many of you guys installed these in your aftermarket rims? Are they really needed or is it just to keep you from getting the yellow light? Also are the universal ones compatible or they have to be OEM? My rim guy says he can get them for about $45 a piece but i think those are universals. Is it really worth the 200 bucks? Can I bypass it?

I got my winter set (tires, rim and tpms) from TireRack. No issue with the tpms whatsoever. They are accurate and consistence.
I guess you can bypass it if you mind the reminder everytime you start your engine.

I just got oe TPMS sensors installed today in my Works. I like to keep an eye on my tire pressure to avoid any issues plus having the TMPS sensor light on is annoying. Mine were $200 for all 4 rims. You can buy the aftermarket ones but I was told they have to program them to your car rather then the OE set where the car learns them on its own.

Honda/Acura tpms are plug and play. No programming required. After swapping the tires, the system will pick up the new tpms signal after a few minutes of driving.

But other than checking the air pressure yourself and having the yellow light on there is no purpose. I plan on keeping the stock to swap out in the fall/winter and the the rims for the summer. Unless I find a good deal on the marketplace I dont think I want to spend 200 for them.

I didn't want to have to keep swapping TMPS sensors between the stocks and my after markets. Eventually that $200 will catch up in mounting and dismounting.

I had my stock TPMS swapped into my CV3s...shop charged me $5 per wheel for the swap, better then $200-$300 for new ones imo.
Only issue I've had so far is when I pull up the screen with the Tire Pressure for each wheel, they are all quite different...some 220, others 240, and they change pretty frequently as the tire temperature changes. I've since purchased a digital pressure meter, and they all appear equal when I use it. Guess it's better than a yellow light...
