Air intake

Is taking off the plastic covering on the stock intake cause any problems? I heard that taking it off gives the car a little more throttle and makes it a little louder. I have no idea if its something worth messing with. Any thoughts?

the cover? I would leave that on. Check 3g garage, they have a write up on how to remove the lower half.

Do you mean the top half of the filter housing? I've read posts where people have removed a small piece of plastic somewhere in the huge filter duct work. Is this what you mean? Please clarify. I'm curious also because I'm not interested in a replacement CAI (since I'm under warranty) but am a tinkerer at heart and wouldn't mind a free HP or two with minimal downside.

I would bet he's referring to the plastic cover which protects the entrance to the intake just in front of the battery.

I would suggest not removing this unless you replace the stock intake with an after market unit.
