Power Steering Pump Replacement

Hi guys i have a 2007 Acura TL that needs to get its power steering pump replaced. Has anyone here ever got this replaced and how much did it cost. My steering wheel is hard as hell which I cant even turn it when its parked. When my car is started up in the morning has loud whine noise and goes away after its warmed up, so please anyone who can help me with this would be a big help.

Thanks

Are you sure the rack hasn't failed also?

I think a failed rack can cause metallic bits to be pumped through pump, causing it to fail over time.

I would definitely examine some of the power steering fluid and do a complete flush before you replace any parts.

The noise can be fixed by purchasing a brand new O-ring from the dealer.

Yes, it can be bought at the dealer. Call them first to make sure they have it in stock before you go up there.

The dealer here (45 minutes from me) makes me pay for parts before they are ordered so I have to make the trip twice. Bastards.

My local Honda dealer had several in stock. Guess they order them right before it gets cold.

Usually.

Any of the seals going bad and letting air in could cause the issue. But the OP seems to have bigger issues than just the noise.

PS pump is easy to replace. There are Service Manual scans as noted below:

Just had to have quite a bit of power steering work done. Had several leaks and the bad O-ring. Noise was terrible but never lost power steering.
