I had mine installed by someone well experienced in auto electric using the write-up at the beginning of this thread. I went his way because of the difficulty in getting to the harness blocked by the clutch reservoir. I just substituted a better fuse holder than the piece of crap that comes with it to avoid future problems. 4 months so far and it works great!

As I also have the single piece chrome strips across the centers of the 2 lower grilles, I wonder how many TL drivers coming the other way think they're seeing an '07/8.

Hmmm...mine is on it's way...I hope I have the same luck installing it!

I also ordered some Honda dielectric grease to keep all connections corrosion free and free flowing.

I have a question...just to check for understanding. Is it 1 only done on 1 side?!

Also, anyone open the module to cut the wire to NOT have the delay? I don't really want it staying on after I turn off the car. AND...can it be set up to NOT come on with parking ligths...I'd rather not have the DRL's cause I have installed bumper fogs that come on w/the parking lights and I don't want the DRL's to be on too.

It only gets hooked to the one side and yes you can have them go off when the parking lights come on. Instead of hooking the wire to the ballast connector run it to the hot side of the parking light. Make sure you choose the hot side of the parking light and not the turn signal. you can use a simple test light for this.

Thank you...I would imagine it would be the colored of the two wires on the parking light? I think they all have a black and colored one from factory and I assume the black is negative.

Thank you very much. That's what I will do because I don't need em unless I have everything OFF!

Note to all...
wiring to the parking light DOES NOT WORK to get the DRL's to turn off with the parking lights. In fact...it messes it up and makes it NOT turn off the DRL's with the low beams unless you turn on the stalk fogs.

Wire it to the ballast low beam wire, like the OP advised. That makes it work properly.

That said...I put some nokya yellows for DRL's and it looks effin mean!

Anyone have a CONFIRMED way of taking away the delay to come on and off from the DRL module since they now moved the wire into the unit?

PLEASE!??

Does this work on a 2004 RSX-S or are there any differences in the installation?

You can pop the unit open, the box is just pressure fitted together with no glue or anything. Atleast mine is.

Had mine for awhile now and the only problem I've found with it was that on a recent trip to Vegas in 110+ degree weather, long hours on the highway.. the unit was probably overheating causing the DRLs to dim and finally turn off. Turning my headlights on then off would turn the DRLs back on for a while again.

YES, I've experienced that as well, plus, when a battery I had leaked acid onto the unit/wiring, it corroded the fuse holder. Fixed that and it's been better, although when it's SUPER hot under the hood it does turn them off eventually.

About the delay, it's funny, when you come back to thread months later...you sometimes think "was that really a concern for me?!"...lol....I have had them stay on for 20 seconds after every time and never killed my battery so I'm good.

I couldn't find the DesignTech DRL module Model # 20013 the OP used and so I had to look for a different one.

I'm using a Grote 44040:

http://www.grote.com/product.php?product_number=44040

The install was pretty much the same as the OP except with different wire colors.

I paid about $30 for one shipped and from what I can tell, it doesn't use low power for the DRL.

This DRL module has been discontinued!

The link to where you could have bought it in my signature no longer works and the company that made them for Designtech,, Hopkins Manufacturing in Kansas City says marketing decided to pull the plug for no explained reason.

So, if you have a 2004,5, or 6 TL and want to convert your fogs to DRL's, you're going to have to look elsewhere, but I'd look for one that lights the fogs up at 75% intensity, or thereabouts.

Wondering for those of us Canadian's who have the DRL's have been able to find a way to increase the output of the bulbs as if I'm not mistaken they only output at 30-50 % of their regular capacity. Make them more visible when being used when the HID's are not being used in the daytime.

Module no longer working

I know no one has posted for some time, but my module has stopped working after about 8 months of use. I had an auto shop do the installation does anyone have any troubleshooting tips before I take it back to the shop?

Check the fuse from the battery to module. then check the signal wires...if they were ttapped then check the taps.

If module gets super hot I've noticed it shuts off.

I was a big fan of this mod as seen on previous pages but the module has NOT stood the test of time. I have gone through 4-5 faulty modules. They tend to go bad by 8-12 months.

I went with the new method of rewiring the fogs as DRLs directly as shown in the new thread by Roger. I recommend it to everyone as an alternative because your fog light switch can actively turn it on and off independent of the headlights. Looks like a tricky mod but it really isn't. I have yellow 3000K HIDs hooked up to it (which you can't do without additional rejigging with the DesignTech) and so far it has proven to be much more problem free. It really seems as if the car is stock and came that way.

It is to GIVE the older Acuras DRL's, which they didn't have.
I might be nuts, but going on almost 2 years with no issues with my module. They stopped selling them so I'm guessing it was a widespread problem.

Hey rockstar143 post a link to the DIY on how to get it done without the module.. I actually bought one about 2 years ago, I did installed it but it went bad only after 2 months. I would have try to return it or exchange it before it was discontinued but I was a little busy with school and work...

It's official, my designtech went bad. Has anyone replaced their broken designtech module with the Hamsar? If so what model do I need and is it a direct replacement?

Install was easy. Follow Faq and adjust wiring accordingly.

Does it light the fogs at 75% brightness like the one from Autobarn did?

My assumption would be that it's 75% since that's part of what the module does. Connect HID's to it, that'll tell you pretty quickly!

You're assuming that it's 75%? Ya know what happens when you break the word ass.u.me into 3 separate words?

Full brightness of the fog lights can be blinding to some oncoming drivers in the daytime. The 25% dimming effect is recommended because that's what makes their brightness level similar to most factory installed DRL's.

Why not call that company up and ask?

Any Canuck have luck finding a place in Ontario, Canada that sells these relays??

I'm not a DRL fan but the law won't allow me to drive my imported TL without DRL's.

I found some Audi style drl's that they say fit the Acura tl but wouldn't I still need a relay for that? Sorry for being so rookie!

Its official. The 44040 activates the low beams at 100%. It deactivates the headlights when the ignition is switched off (obviously). The module will NOT be activated when the park lamps are manually activated. The module will not de-activate the vehicle's headlight if the headlight switch is left in the 'on' position.

(I got that info from the instructions that came with it).

Seems like a simple system that will get my American TL to pass the Canadian Inspection - otherwise I'll probably take it off. There is no delay so it will cause some battery drain on start up and running at 100% low beam is not the industry norm.
