Should I change my manual trans oil now ?
I have 12k miles on my car, but it IS a 2012. I know the trans oil should be changed every 25-30k. Is it based strictly on mileage or does age also come into play ? I don't believe there is a mid indicator for the manual trans oil.
I am not experiencing any shifting issues.

if its shifting rough, it might be time to change fluid.
if its not shifting rough, you can wait. if you want.
Basically, its your decision on whether or not you should change the fluid.
if you want to do it now, go ahead.
if you want to wait a bit, go ahead.
since you do have the GM stuff in your garage, what the heck are you waiting for?????????????????

lol. ur funny man.
Actually my question is fairly logical. Some things like air filters, the mileage/mid doesn't matter, they can look like crap over time. So I was just wondering if that applies to trans oil too. Any my other thread was not the same question. So there

^its totally up to you man.
over time, the trans fluid does wear, just like engine oil.
but, if you're not experiencing any shifting problems like you did in the 3rd gen TL, you could wait until you do have a major service.
I bet you could get away with using the stock fluid for a while!!!
and thanks for not taking my sarcasm the wrong way.!!!!

There is, it's number 3 in the sub items. That for both ATF and MTF changes.
I changed mine early because I was experiencing the 3rd gear popout. It wasn't horrible but it was enough to make me want to switch the fluid. I did (used OEM fluid) and the problem went away for about 15k miles. Not realizing it had only been a year I changed the fluid again with OEM (which will likely be the last time I use it).
If you're not itching to work on your car I'd hold off...either until you start having shifting issues or the sub item #3 comes up on your MID.

Had the manual transmission fluid and transfer case fluid replaced during the last service (for SH-AWD cars, both the transmission and transfer case fluids are to be replaced with code 3 shown). The maintenance code 3 hadn't come up on mine yet, but decided to do it anyway since it's never been changed and there's close to 47k on the car. Have to say that the shift feel has improved a little. The transfer case fluid capacity is 0.5 US quarts and manual transmission fluid capacity is 2.6 US quarts.
