CREATE your own DVD-Audio from CD with discWelder (Detailed instructions/pictures)

This is for anyone that has a CD collection and wants to copy it to DVD. The advantage to this is that you can get as many as 99 CD quality songs on one DVD.

You have to convert your CD collection's audio files to WAV files. Once converted to WAV then you can create your DVD-Audio disc.

The software used to do this:

1. Audiograbber - Converts CD Audio to WAV.
http://www.audiograbber.com-us.net/

2. discWelder Bronze - Writes up to 99 CD quality songs on one DVD
http://www.discwelder.com/low/low_dBronze.htm

You can check here to see some pricing on discWelder Bronze...
http://froogle.google.com/froogle?sc...cwelder+Bronze

or

discWelder Chrome II - Writes up to 891 (9 Groups with 99 songs each) CD quality songs on one DVD.

You can check here to see some pricing on discWelder Chrome II...
http://froogle.google.com/froogle?sc...cwelder+Chrome

Here are detailed instructions on how to create your own DVD-A from your CD collection:

Audiograber

1. Insert one of your Audio CD's
2. Open Audiograbber
3. Select Settings
4. Select MP3 Settings
5. Select Internal Encoder
6. Select Microsoft PCM Converter
7. Select 48000 KHz , 16 Bit, Stereo
8. Select OK
9. Select Freedb - This will populate each track with Artist information
10. Select Grab

All songs will no get converted to an individual 48000 KHz , 16 Bit, Stereo WAV file.

discWelder

1. Open discWelder Bronze/Chrome II
2. Navigate to your WAV files
3. You can rename your compilation from Untitled
4. Drag and drop your WAV files
5. Inset a blank DVD+R **
6. Select Record
7. Select Verify if desired

** I used a Memorex 4X DVD+R. I was led to believe +R would not work but it did for me. I have no idea whether other media will work or not.

If you use discWelder Chrome II then you can create up to nine groups. To change groups you need to push and hold Scan and RPT on your TL's audio system.

TL

1. Go to your TL
2. Listen happily

Disc Welder Chrome

Okay fellas, all those who want to create their DVD-A's i have ur solution. Special thanks to Markjrenna, he helped me to finally make use of my DVD BURNER. Alrite heres what i can do for you, i have the discwelder program.......its just a trial version HOWEVER uninstall it and reinstall after the 2 week expiration date and ur good to go. I just save you like $3000. Im trying to figure out how to upload this program so that my fellow Acura mates out there can easily get a hold of this program. If your interested in this program e-mail me and we can do a transaction (i simply send it via msn). I just burnt a DVD-A with 5 Groups and like 30 songs in each group, u can almost say i have a MP3 player now. I used winamp to convert my mp3 to wav, however use whatever mp3 to wav converter you choose. be sure to use PCM format and 48,000KHZ 16 bit stereo. almost forgot, my e-mail is seanrali@gmail.com

Why not just use Adobeman's script? It's free, unlike DiscWelder.

And I believe AudioGrabber will convert MP3s to .wavs.

so help me understand please,
before burning to dvd, music files need to be converted to .wav format whether they are mp3 or right from cd, .cda format?
And Audiograbber will do that?

Then I used adobeman's program to actually do the burning??
sorry for the newb questions, I have never had a dvd A player and never had to do this. I have lots of music on mp3 format and lots on cd. I would like to convert both to dvd a so I don't need so many disks

Thanks for your help.

I'm sorry, Audiograbber does NOT convert from one music file to another, but dbPowerAMP does.

Get it here:

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

Here's instruction on how to use Adobeman's script:

thanks.
but I just read his thread and i guess i'm just stupid lol.
it does not show how to convert mp3's on my hard drive to burn to a dvd, it only shows to convert from cd.

How do i take files from mp3 format, on my hard drive, and get them to a dvd r.
I don't think my software nero 6 that came with my burner can do that. It does'nt seem to have an option for that.
For example, when burning a cd from mp3, I used to just go to roxio ez cd creator and drag the mp3 files right to where it burns a cd, in .wav format i guess. done. one easy step, it automatically converted the mp3 to wav format.

Is there any software that does that???
I'm assuming the files have to be in .wav format in order to go to a dvd r and be able to play in tl.

please help.

You can do a Google search and find programs that will convert mp3's to Wav's...

http://www.google.com/search?q=convert+mp3+to+wav

You can also use Ulead's Burn. Now to convert mp3's on the fly and burn your DVD-Audio disc.

http://www.ulead.com/bn/runme.htm

http://tl.acurazine.com/forums/showt...ighlight=ulead

I strongly recommend Adobeman's free program as well. The only drawback is for the less technical that don't want to use DOS.

You need to make your own decision om whether you want to do it for free or spend a bit of money.

thanks.
I got it now.
I sucessfully created a dvd audio disk through Adobeman's program and used deepburner to create the disk.
I put them all in one group and it worked fine.

How do you get more than one group onto a disk. My one group came out to 4.6GB.
and that was about 90 tracks. If I make 9 groups similar, that will not fit onto one disk right? it would be 30 something GB's. Up top you refernce it is possible to get 891 tracks onto a disk, but I don't understand. My .wav files are usually about 50MB each.

Thanks.

Ok, I have one question for you guys. Do these programs just put but a bunch of songs on a DVD or does it actually convert it to 5.1 surround? I thought they needed to be origanally recorded like that to be 5.1

If you use Adobeman's process than you would populate any or all of the 9 groups with wav's. Don't answer "yes" to put in one group.

891 is a theoretical number of 9 (groups) x 99 (songs per group). At most you would ever get is about 100 or so standard songs on one DVD-A disc.

Yes, just a bunch of songs.

If you have a 5.1 songs then you can make a 5.1 DVD-A disc using other software such as WaveLab. Also depending on where the 5.1 song is originally you may need to extract it with another process such as Besweet.
