Autobahn Top Speed Videos

Ok here are a couple vids I took yesterday. Did a couple pulls in 5th, and one in 6th. You can NOTICEABLY hear the fuel cutoff so there should be no further doubt in anyones mind about the fact that the 3rd Gen TL DOES have a top speed governer. Oh yeah, no making fun of my accent... lol

Figured it out, it's on your myspace page. Sweet mods, the car looks good. Europeans must wonder what kind of car that is since they don't sell the Acura brand over there.

Thumbs down Shame On You

Autobarn, now what highway is that? Oh boy, you did whatttttt?

FYI the speed limit is 50 MPH. How dare you going so fast on a public freeway, soooooooooo irresponsible and dangerous, what if...

Plus you are hurting your engine- see how fast it's spinning poor thing and the speedometer bouncing off, you are hurting you vehicle, don't you understand.

Also think about the world around you, you dumping a lot of exhaust gases in the atmosphere at that speed, look at the fuel gauge, it's going down rapidly. Inconvenient truth I know, you must watch Al Gore's film and try to understand the damage you do to the environment.

Finally, what kind of example you show to these internet boyz and girlz, look they envy you now, not good, not good at all.

You seemed like a good 'ol boy to me and look at you now, braking the law and incriminating yourself, hurting the car and the world, giving our boyz a bad example, 'nuff said I'm calling the cops, SHAME ON YOU

How does the car hold at that speed?

TL must be a rare car in Germany, so you must get some comments on it.

I thought about doing that too, I am going to "geuss" about 6mpg at 150.

There actually is another TL (04 to 06 model) on post in Vilseck. I break necks everywhere I go, it is very funny.

I would like to think that this would end the debate of where/if there is a top speed governer but there will still be people claiming it is drag limited and whatnot. I think it is pretty cut and dry though, you can noticeably hear the engine cutting in and out at 150 gauge reading.

Both, 5th gear tops out with about 250 rpm's till redline. I thought the same thing too but I just didnt push it to the end the first time. Push it till it hits it.

HOLY CRAP! those videos are awesome. I would think that the TL would be very rare in Europe. I know when I visited Ireland this Christmas, I didn't see a single TL (or anything remotely like it, for that matter). Did see one TSX, but it was branded as a Honda something over there. Definitely jealous. Good job!

Those vids remind me of one of the reasons why I love Germany..the autobahn. I did three tours in Deutschland and never got tired of the rush everytime I hit 100mph on my daily commute. Enjoy!

I have yet to lose a single race since I have had the TL, havent really raced anything over here though yet. I havent been passed on the autobahn yet... There are audi station wagons though that would fly past me so I know its coming. Its more a gas thing to the germans, just figure that super plus gas costs 1.39 euro per LITER, 3.78 gallons in a liter... So yeah they pay out the ass for gas.

Took 36 days to get here, very stoked cause my household goods are getting delvered today whcih means my RIMS are here YES!! (19" Ron Jon INspyre's for the guy who asked)

The car you saw is the Euro Honda Accord, it is the american TSX. Funny cause they are kinda crappy (going back to fuel economy) and they even have a station wagon version, but then there IS the Type R.

Yeah great clips. Thank's for making us all completely envious of you. J/k, kinda.lol I like the end of the last run where the guy was blocking the left lane, that must be even more annoying when you're going 150 MPH and you have someone holding you up. Did he end up moving over?

Regarding the speed limiter, do you think that it is only the TL-S that has to be limited b/c of the bigger engine? Do you think the non-S is still limited?

Dude.....WOW!

How much did it cost to have the car shipped over there? What kind of taxes?

Besides the speed, I just want to have a unique car while I'm there.

Everyone gawks at it everywhere I go but no Germans have really asked me about it yet, just jaw dropping is about it. AND I got my RonJon's on today so some new pics will be in order soon. As a matter of fact I was going to keep it a secret but since you asked I am going to take the TL on the nurburgring. It costs 65 euros (about 80 bucks) for 4 laps. I am stoked.

The guy in the Bimmer was doing about 140mph so it wasnt a big deal, people over here are really good about staying out of the left lane and respecting people going faster when they flash their lights to get out of the way. All 3rd gen TL's are speed limited.

Uncle Sam ships one vehicle per soldier when we get stationed overseas. Took 36 days from the day I dropped it off in Baltimore.

LOL!!!! I reset my MiD this morning on my way back form nunrburg and kept 150 (gauge reading) for almost 3 miles. It was 8mpg, it was funny seeing my average speed 149mph.

Thank's for the above info.

Now for my next question. How does the car feel at 150 MPH? Must not be pretty bad considdering you did it for almost 3 miles.

Keep us posted on when you take your car on the Nurburgring. I can't wait to see video/pictures/rewiew of your time there.
