2004 Acura TL CarPC w/ dual LCD (ver 2)

Here is my latest carPC install. Made lot of changes and upgrades from my last one so decided to put up a new thread. This "was" a non-navi TL but it has lot of parts from the navi TL which is the Bezel with buttons, the navi LCD and the navi clock display. Mainly bc I like the navi buttons and wanted to use them for my carPC. Also, there are 2 xenarc screens. The character LCD display that came with the non-navi has been replaced with the navi LCD, although I'm not using it as a display, it is needed to show cabin temperatures ,clock, hfl icon, etc..

Sound input is via the XM audio which is not used. I don't have any "sound adapter". Just wired straight into the radio. Stock radio functionality is untouched (including HFL bluetooth call interruption).

My goal was to have this setup looking just like a stock system.

5 min video:

Car Specs:
- 2004 Acura TL 2004 non-navi.

- Cleared front corner lights
- Tinted back lights and side marker lights

- 10" Bazooka Subwoofer w/ 200W RMS built in amp.

PC specs:
- Dell D520 notebook: Intel Core2 duo 2ghz, 2gb ram, 160gb HD, XP SP2.
- Dell docking station and stand powered by Lind electronics Auto Power Supply.
- 2 x Xenarc 7" TSV. Upper screen is high-brightness using VGA input and AV2 for rear view camera. Lower screen is using AV1 input from laptop tv-out.

Peripherals:
- Rikaline 12ch GPS Bluetooth
- SoundBlaster X-FI XMOD USB Audio.
- Pinnacle PCTV HD PRO Stick USB.

I think this is the only mod he has left do. Make it turn into a transformer,

And I think he's trying to program that into his computer.

An Acura Transformer....Cool

LOL JK

So I can buy the navi a/c clock display and get the info just by plugging the connector from the lcd display in the info display, but no radio info right.

Those wheels are HOT...I want some.

Why is the OEM screen still in the car in the bottom? I know it must be serving some function or you would have removed it. Why must it remain?

I like that you can upgrade your PC at anytime with just a laptop switch.

OEM NAVI screen is being used so I can get the temperature display up on top. I could use it, but I'd need dual vga output from my laptop which I don't have. The non-navi lcd screen is gone altogether.

Of course start a new thread for a photoshop of that. Sorry, I sometimes get distracted by certain "little" things, and it just so happens that transformers are one of them.

ANyways, back to the topic. Is there a way that the info on the OEM HVAC / Clock display can be displayed on either of the screens?

Plus, I'm still waiting on pics showing both screens operational with the computer.....

No you can only display that on the navi subclock unless you know electric engineering. and about seeing both screens working,

you missed the video link above.

Hey,

I have some questions for you:

You said the navi LCD is "hidden" behind the Xenarc? What do you mean by that?

Where did you get the NAVI bezel and gear?

Sup jeff.. didn't know you were in this forum too
The navi LCD is needed to display the temperatures on the navi subdisplay clock, along with the hfl icon , fan speed, etc...
I meant hidden cuz i'm not using the color lcd to display anything. I could if i had a second vga out on my laptop.
The navi bezel, subdisplay clock, and the lcd i got everything on ebay for like $300 total.
I did a lot of searching tho.. specially for the subdisplay clock which is hard to come by.

I got another video as well =)
Watching a NHL final game in HD.. woot!

I have been going through this in my mind for probably a year now for my own lil project... but if you add the nav dvd unit (hopefully dont need a dvd) and connect a gps receiver to it (to get the time.. i think its were it comes from) shouldn't the sub display be fully functional?

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I really need some help on replacing the Non-Navi Display with the Navi SubDisplay.

I did try to connect the naviDisplay with SubDisplay and I got the HFL, Temperature and clock (not yet setup thout).

I'm still missing the Stereo Informations on the SubDisplay, is there something I need to connect with the Navigation Unit to get this info displayed or I'm just doing something wrong?

I'm waiting for my Navi Antenna so I can get the clock setup correctly with the NavigationUnit that I already have....

Thanks for any help....

If the harness is correct, it should just work. I didn't have any problems with the displays.

Did you simply replace your Non-Navi display with a SubDisplayNavi ?? or you did the big Non-navi to NAVI conversion??

Cause It's not my first harness, maybe I could double check my connections again, but it all looks fine...

So are you sayin that I don't need the NaviUnit for the SubDisplay, escept for the clock...??

Thanks bro!
