Offical 2004-2006 Switchblade key continued.

Due to some issues with the software the forum uses, there is alot of lag with long threads.Due to that, I am restarting the Key thread here:

I have gotten JnC's key and got the final price on the keys. Acurazine has sent me some vendor info, but not of it is feasable as I am not making any profit on the keys.

You are ordering just the milled key, you will have to get it cut and programed when you get it. If you want to save money with this, search for acccord key and there will be a DIY on how to rip out your old immoblizer. Then google acura switchblade and there will be a DIY on how to put your immoblizer into the new switchblade key. After you cut the immoblizers out, there is no turning back for your old keys.

For those with TSX's, I am sorry, But I ask that you please remove yourself from the List as I want to be 100% sure that the keys will work. I will buy and mill a key at my expense and test fit it to a local TSX. I am sorry for this.

IF YOU STILL WANT A KEY, ADD YOUR NAME BY 2 PM Thursday July 31st and Pay for the key by thursday. IF YOU NEED MORE TIME PM ME
Website for payment/order
WWW.SWITCHBLADEKEYS.COM

Pricing if you will ship me the key (switchblade blank) is:
30 dollars for 1 key, 50 for two keys.

If you buy the key from me, it is 100 dollars per key to your door.

Like I said before, this is no profit to me at all.

EDIT:

FAQ's

1. If I only have one of my orignal keys, does that matter?
No, it does not matter if you have only one of the orignal keys, you can still purchase, cut and program 2 switchblade keys.

2. Will you send the key cut for my specific vehicle?
No, the key will be milled (the grooves cut in) and you will need it cut to fit your exact car.

3. Is there any way to save money?
Yes, you can cut the immoblizer out of your old keys and transplant them into your new switchblade key.

4. What is the pricing?
100 dollars for the key to your door
30-50 dollars if you have a blank switchblade already and need it milled, to your door.

5. What do I have to do after getting the key/s?
You will have to do 3 things:
1. Program the remote (unlock/lock), this can be done by anyone
2. Program the immoblizer, this can be done by any locksmith or acura dealer.
3. Cut the key to your car, this can be done by any locksmith or acura dealer.

6. Do you ship to canada?
Yes, I will ship to canada, but I will need you address once the 50 keys+ break is completed to alert you of any extra shipping costs. Est. is about 10 dollars extra.

7. Do I need to send you anything?
Not really, if you use the 100 dollar option, nothing needs to be sent. If you use the 30-50 dollar option, you will need to send me ONLY the blank switchblade key/s.

8. How do I program the remote (unlock/locl/trunk/panic ONLY) to the car?
Follow the instructions on this page

9. How do I do the immobizer swap (optional if you wish to save money, but loose your orignal keys)?
You will need to cut out the immoblizer chip (known as a transponder). Here is the thread to the removal:
Cuting out immoblizer/transponder from old key
Then you will need to put that chip in the switchblade key, follow this DIY to put it in:
How to remove the immoblizer from the switchblade and put in chip into your switchblade

If you do not understand what is meant by milling, here are some pictures to clarify:

I think it'd be good to add links for the how-to program your own key, and also how to transplant your own chip, if you could edit them into the first post that would be tits.

Transplanting chips, requires you to cut up both your existing key AND the new key. Not worth the effort and money. It will not look too pretty

Done for the remote, but for the transponders, I have only found a DIY on how to take it out of the switchblade and not the regular key. I will post that when I find one.

The old key will be destroyed, but the change to the new key will not show anything on them as the transponder is on the inside of the remote. also second post updated with people who have paid.

question- is the chip RF? Like could you just take it out of the old key and hold it right by the ignition cylinder and still start it up with the properly cut new key? if so, could you just take the steering wheel surround off, tape the chip in next to the cylinder and then put it back and not have to discombobulate your new expensive key?

^^ Its not RF. The chip is linked to the metal part of the key which when inserted into the ignition communicates with the chip control in the car. If its programmed correct the chip control will let the ECU start the car otherwise it wont.

This is just a thought, but instead of hacking up a key and taking the column apart, if you really want to go this route, just take your existing key, put it in the cubby hole (they are deep) and use your nice new switchblade key. They thing is you are bypassing some of the engineered anti theft of your nice Acura. I would recommend just doing it right, the piece of mind is worth the extra few dollars. Just my

The transponder key that everyone is talking about is Acuras (and most car manufacturers) way of theft protection. Basically consider it like your garage door opener. You have to link your remote to your garage door, so it will open. That is what keeps everyones door on your block from opening when you clikc your button.

Kind of the same thing, except the key has a chip in it, and it is programmed to your vehicle. This keeps someone from making a copy of your key and stealing your car. Even with the correct key, they need to have it chipped to your car.

You can either cut the chip out of your old key and insert it into the switchblade, since it is already programmed; or you can bring the switchblade to the dealer or a locksmith and they can reprogram it for you with their fancy little machine.

for all the NYC people. I just called the locksmith and is $60 to cut and program the switch blade. It will program the immibolizer as well. which is what the person on the phone said.

$100 milled switchblade + $60 = $160 not bad for such a cool key

If I go to the dealer and buy the transmitter and key 35119-SEP-305, and they will cut and program for about $100, do they mill it too? Why do I need to have it milled in advance of taking it to the dealer for cutting and programming?

it can be programed. Ripping apart the key is another option if you don't want to spend the money to get the key programmed.

$100 milled switchblade + $60 = $160 not bad for such a cool key

I just purchase the switchblade. I was wondering which locksmith in NYC did you call? Thanks in advance

This is the time breakdown:
I ordered the keys today, so the keys should be here in 5 days
Once I get them, milling starts 1-2 days
I ship keys out 3-5 days

those switchblade keys cost almost 5K yes thats right...
