Anyone have front compliance bushings rip with stock suspension?
My 04 TL with 42k has both ripping.. One of my friend's 02 civic with same design had them both rip too... Twice! Checking with my other friends with TLs. However wondering if other people have this problem. It seems like a poor design.
Not hard or expensive to replace.. about $20 each for the bushings and about $20each to press in at local Napa. (Make sure the guy knows what he's doing though and mark the bushing orientation properly before pressing the old one out). Its just really annoying to replace suspension bushings so often.
Wondering if there is recall or many other people with the problem. I live in San Diego and the weather here is nothing compared to other parts of the country. If they last only 42k here they must suck worse elsewhere.

I wouldnt worry too much about it. I see these pretty regularly and no one ever wants them repaired. They look the same at 160 thousand miles and have yet to see one cause any issues.

On the civic (about 80k miles) they ripped all the way through.. both sides the first time and twice on one (the otehr is starting too though). The lower control arm was completely loose causing a loud steering/suspension clunk. Thought it was a freak thing but its looking more like the design.

Looks like some other people have the same problems.. Some as little as 11k miles.

I just noticed mine recently and they look like the pics in this post. I've got 103k miles on my '04 TL. It's just another thing to look at replacing when I do new coilovers. Hopefully mid year. I gotta do the Timing belt/water pump soon too.

It sucks that they break so frequently, but maybe a vendor can find a cost effective way to fix them with polyurethane bushings. I dont mind paying to fix something right, but do not want pay to fix it with parts that will break again (cough OEM). But as long as Acura is paying OEM is fine. As long as they dont cut my lower ball joints *again* during the repair.

The tricky part to these is that they need to rotate. For this bushing polyurethane probably make it worse because its a harder material. The stock design is cheap to make and probably why they did it that way. Unfortunately, cant be modded/changed easily.
Also if you go to dealer they want to replace the whole arm instead of just the bushing. Which is roughly $150+labor each vs about $20 per bushing + $30 pressing + labor each. Most dealers are not equipped with bushing press.

I just checked and mine are torn again... But I've been re-reading this and I don't understand why "no on ever wants them repaired". Maybe its just me, but if its broken I want it fixed.

Both my bushings are ripped at 25k miles. Something to consider when you install new ones, there is a certain orientation they need to be in. Look at the big dot in the control arm, and the small one on the bushing. They need to line up. It looks like the bushings on both sides in my car were misaligned from the factory.

When I was doing my brakes I noticed mine have some minor tears on both sides. I'm not too concerned about it. I will check again once I rotate the tires if it has gotten worse. '06 with 67k.

So I've gone through this thread a bunch of time but really havent come across exactly how these are supposed to be oriented in the lca. does someone have a pic of the alignment tabs? All I've seen in this thread was "not only do they have to be oriented correctly but the z axis needs to be correct as well".

no i dont think it would make a loud knocking sound unless the bushing was torn so bad the metal parts are hitting each other....which i dont think would happen unless you drag race your car everyday for 10 years

This hapenned again, after I got new sets of lower control arms.
original post : https://acurazine.com/forums/problem...ension-696480/
I installed set of new lower control arm about 1 year and half ago.. but it seems like a design defect cause it started to crack after I got this replaced by Acura dealer and also aligned by them.
Anyone knows makes this "compliance bushing" out of polyurethane or something more durable than OEM parts?
I cant just drop another several hundreds on these since I know this will happen again and again...
