It could be just as simple as the wheel balance..maybe the weight flew off, or it could a bad rim. How is the tire itself?

the tire is in perfect condition, with about 70% tread left- it was prev mounted in the rear
about six months ago, the dealer did a 3rd gear tranny fix, and tech had to do an alignment after taking out the tranny. The car did not pull to the side after that...How can rotating the tires for 1st time at 30k mi cause the car to start pulling to the side?

I have no clue, it really shouldn't pull at all.. is the wheel balance weight there? Is the rim sitting in properly? I know these are all common sense things, but you never know, we all make little mistakes. Just recheck.
I don't see how rotating tires can throw car off it's alignment. |

all weights are there...rim sitting mproperly otherwise it would not mount right....tire pressure is all equal.

I had the same problem when i changed my rims on my TL, after reading a bit online. It is possible that this can be due to uneven tire wear as well, or manufacturer tire defect. After posting in the problems/fixes review and reading the resposnes there I decided to check tire rack as well.

this is a great article, thanks for posting it here! This indeed will help me diagnose the cause.

its most likely a tire pull, i have seen this happen many times after a tire rotation...just cross rotate the front tires and this usually straightens it out or just causes it to pull the opposite way
