How much would it cost to install a new engine in a TL type-s?

One of my friends bought a used TL type-s (since he loved my CL-S) about a year ago for 6K with 120K miles... When the guy sold it to him he "said" he did the timming belt but last night he called me and said his timming belt snapped and now he would need a new engine.. He went on car-parts . com and found a few for $500-$1000. What do u guys think a hoda specialty shop would charge him to drop a new engine in his car and take his out?
Also if they where to do the timming belt and waterpump while doing it how much more would it be? Does anyone have a clue or have ever done it?
He LOVES his car and the tranny was done by acura at like 105K miles (the guy actully showed him the recipt for it) and wants to keep it for a few more years then sell it cuz right now w/o a engine its worthless!!

sounds like a timing belt job done without new tensioner pullies- then 20k later that thing siezes and belt snaps
Not worth saving a hundred now to spend 1500 later but many shops dont do it

replace all the 105 parts on the replacement engine- its been sitting a while so flush the water passages before doing anything and run seafoam thru it- oil change etc

check local auto recycler yards for a good unit- prices vary with how much of the complete assembly you get--heads- intake exhaust- timing belt covers..

props to juan for offering assistance- ziners helping ziners
may be the guy who knows where to buy to!
