TL Tech package OEM Speaker Specs

I've ran across a few posts where people have ask questions about the speakers in the TL Tech package so I wanted to add this new post. I have replaced all 10 speakers with aftermarkets. Below are the details of each OEM speaker:

Front Tweeter 1.0 inch 6 ohms 15 watts
Front Door 6.5 inch 2 ohms 20 watts
Rear Door 3.5 inch 2 ohms 15 watts
Rear Deck 6.5 inch 2 ohms 20 watts
Subwoofer 8.0 inch 2 ohms 40 watts

The speakers are very lighweight (mostly made of plastic), are made in Mexico and have a "ELS Surround" label on each.

They are in a box in my basement, so if any dealer/shop tells you different they are not telling you the truth.

What speakers did you switch to ? How does it sound compared to stock and how much did the upgrade cost "parts/labor" and where did you do it ?

I'm thinking of simply replacing all of my factory speakers with aftermarket. However, I don't want to run new wires for aftermarket amps. Do you think it would be easy to simply replace the factory amps/crossover with aftermarket with minimal modifications?

Also I'm assuming the center channel is the same as the rear door speakers. Am I correct? Are those the RMS ratings or Max? Any info on the stock amp setup/ratings?

Yea same here - I would want to just replace the speakers only, would leave the sub/tweeters.

Would this be simple to do? I guess take off all 4 door panels, and the back seat grill off and replace.

You can just replace the speakers and be okay, but I would not purchase any speakers with high RMS because the amp is not that powerful. The OEM speakers have very low RMS so the amp can't be to far off from what the speakers can handle.

Also, my installer just tapped into the existing speaker wires and added length to connect to the aftermarket amps. I don't have any info on the stock amp ratings.

Thanks for the info. I'm going with infinity kappa perfects all around. They have a broad RMS range so I can add an amp later if need be. My question is, if the installer tapped into the speaker wires, then they would have already went through a crossover and thus, not be full range. How did you overcome this or was it left as is?

I added two JL cleansweeps to my system. One for the front/rear deck and the other for the center/sub/rear door. The amp puts out a full range to the fronts only (the crossover is actually on the OEM tweeter and not between the amp and the speakers). All other speakers do not receive a full range but the rear deck is pretty close. You will be happy with the Kappas, but I already had two pairs of Boston Z6's so I needed more power.

My initial install thread may assist in answering some of your questions.

Are these the same for the SH-AWD base model?

I'm interested in knowing also. Actually I'm looking for front and back door speakers. Something slightly better then stock will be nice but trying to keep it under $150-$200 for all 4 speakers.

I just placed an order for Polk DB651s for the front door and DB351 for the back door. Hopefully they will be better then the stock speakers at least.

I need to replace my front passenger door speaker - any suggestions on where I should get it? Just going to stay OEM, as I'm not looking to upgrade everything ATM

I have swapped my front ELS with GX602, amazing difference but their quality made me realize the rear door speakers are also blown. I have read somewhere theyre threeway not two way.
Can those who went through the swap share what you used for rear?
TIA.

It’s a 3 1/2 inch speaker. I no longer have the TL and now have a high end system in a 2018 RLX.
