Difference between UA6 and UA7 subframe?

Sorry if I posted in the wrong section. I don't know where this would go

I was wondering if anyone knew what the differences were between the UA6 and UA7 subframe. I messed up my front end in a collision a little over a year ago and it just occurred to me that the body shop put in a subframe from a 2005 TL (UA6) in place of my damaged 2008 TL type-s (UA7) subframe. Anybody know the differences between the two? Weight? Strength? Rigidity? I hope it's nothing major

i noticed that my 07 tl-s subframe is silver and that other hondas and some acuras i see are black colored.

this leads me to the assumption that the acura tl has a different material front subframe than hondas.

The subframe in the TL is aluminum, hence the silver color so your assumption is correct.

Hey guys I'm reviving this thread because I took my 2008 6MT TL type-s to the dealership under warranty this past weekend because the transmission was giving me problems. The reverse gear lock-out would engage even when the car was at a standstill. They've tried to fix the problem before but were unsuccessful. This is the third time they've "attempted" to fix the gear problem, however, I just received a call from the service manager saying that they will not work on my car because it has the wrong subframe on it ('05 subframe).

However, the reverse gear problem occurred before I even replaced the subframe therefore I don't understand how the subframe could be the cause of the malfunction.

Under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act I believe Acura can only refuse my warranty if they can prove that my '05 subframe is the cause of my reverse gear lock-out, correct? I need some techs and experts on transmissions to chime in on this please!!!

The reverse lockout is purely electrical. I would go to a different dealer, this one is trying to pull something over on you.

Thanks Richie, I think going to another dealer would be a good idea. I know the reverse lockout is electrical, but I wonder why they told me that my reverse gear solenoid was damaged and replaced it the last time

and I don't think it will be a good idea to not tell them haha I forgot to mention the '05 subframe has "05 TL" written on the bottom of the subframe haha

Thanks for the input guys!

type-s subframe is aluminium and weight less, base is steel. Thats why its powdercoated black. to prevent rust

not sure if it can be swapped to answer the second op question

I pulled a subframe from a 2004 TL base 6MT last week. It is aluminum. I'm putting it on my 2006 Accord Sedan V6 6MT, which has a steel subframe. All TL are aluminum.

I was just wondering about this looking at my few subframes. Accord subframe was significantly heavier than my base 2005 TL 6MT. It may be TL 6MTs got the aluminum subframe?

I measured about ~48.8 lbs for the aluminum subframe (this weight includes a 2x4" piece of wood I placed on my scale).
