2006 TL Navi B14 Service Due-Acura or Honda?
My 2006 Acura TL (105k miles) has been great, flawless actually, and I am glad I bought it back in 06. The B14 Service light is on (oil, timing light and a lot of other system checks).
The Acura Dealer replaces the timing belt and checks other items, but the Honda dealer seems to do more, for less $$. The starting price for this service is $1250 at Acura, a non-trivial sum but it is due. My question is, Honda seems to do more for the money since they say their service tech rates are lower (???), but they replace the tensioner and water pump which is probably not a bad idea.
Any advise from fellow TL owners would be appreciated, I have an appt. scheduled for Wednesday. Honda or Acura?! Thanks.

you need to get a quote for the whole job from the acura dealer and the honda dealer. see if the acura dealer will match the honda dealer in price.
yes it is true that honda labor rates are a little less than acura. an indy place will be a little lower yet. ultimately its up to you and who you are comfortable with workig on your car and of course your wallet.

Thank you all for your thoughts. Yes my first order of business tomorrow is to get a couple of written quotes. I will let you know what I find. I am a bit surprised to see that this B14 code solicits different service measures from Acura and Honda. More to come.....thanks again.

or you could tell them oil change, tire rotation and the timing belt maintenance pkg (TB, water pump, and whatever else should be done) vs "B14". the B service alone will cost $180 vs $40 for a standard oil change. just a thought.
