FLP Compliance Bearings Install and Impressions

The issue plagues TSX and TL divers alike, with many TL drivers reporting failures within 60,000 miles.

Pro Car Innovations has an awesome solution for replacing these bushings with a more durable spherical bearing. The bearing is a rigid mounting point rather than a flexy rubber one, which has the promise not only of longer life, but also of greatly enhanced road feel. Fastline Performance was quick to adopt this part as one of their own, recognizing the great benefit for performance and longevity that is so direly needed, especially on the 04-08 TL chassis.

Hey Heeltoe,

Any interest in having someone track test these next spring for you?

It's mentioned in the article that it might be a good idea to lube the bearings regularly. What product is recommended? Some kind of oil lubricant dripped/sprayed from above or a thicker grease?

I think it might be beneficial to incorporate a zerk fitting into this bearing design, so that even in the worst of conditions (salt, sand, etc.), a regular grease'n will flush out the contaminants.

Great idea on the zerk, I have to imaging there is a reason why one is not there. Really the tolerance is pretty tight and I am not sure I can see contaminant getting in there. For spray I would think I dosing of WD40 or some other penetrating type spray would really help create a protective barrier.

On another note I drove the car a bunch this morning and honestly can't say there is any impact on ride at all. You do feel more connected up front, and sharp bumps are more jolting, but I hesitate to say there is any added discomfort.

Marcus, do you have any plan to develop rubber or polyurethane bushings which are (maybe) more suitable for daily driving and possibly cheaper than this metal piece?

I have on the 8th Civic Traction ball made by Full Race on my TL. Cleaning these require periodic cleaning and lubrication particularly in wet and muddy climates. Recommend using Lucas Oil "Tool Box Buddy" a mild solvent and lubricant. How's the noise issue with the FLP?

I have been driving around on these all week, 200+ miles already. There is nothing about them that makes me think they are inappropriate for daily use. They seem to have little if any negative impact on the ride, there is no additional noise. Just some bumps are more abrupt in the front end.

The more I drive with these the more I like them. Turn-in is phenomenally improved. Stability in high speed cornering is amazing.

Yes they do. With less deflection in the arm the torque steer is significantly reduced.

I recently added a new update to the driving impressions. Click the article in the OP for that commentary.

There would be no need! ive had these installed on my tl for over 4 months and 5000+ miles and they hardly have any signs of wear or dirt/grime. When doing my oil change i wipe them off and your good to go!
