TPMS light help....
I have a problem with my TPMS light. My sensors were all working fine, but I decided to put a set of base TL rims on my car for about 2 weeks. Today, I put back on my aspec rims with the sensors and the tpms light is still on, I've driven like 80 miles already. I read it may be some sleeping mode for the tpms sensors but there's no definitive answer.... Anyone?

I have two sets of rims/tires (dedicated Winter and Summer) and swap them out with little or no problem. I usually have to drive a couple of miles before the TPMS synches up again.
Is the TPMS system reading the sensors? In other words can you see and/or are you getting four individual PSI readings at all four corners in your MID? Are the tires in fact properly inflated?
You can try resetting the error message stored in the Nav by doing this:
You'll need to evoke the diagnostic screen first, get in your car, turn the nav on, and hold down the "GUIDE", "MENU", and "CANCEL" buttons for about 5 seconds. The factory calibration screen will come up.
Then click on XM module, and you'll see the option to erase those messages. Believe it or not the diagnostic messages are stored in XM module.. dumb.
P.S. word of advice, be careful

It says system error and when I click on it , it shows dashes for all readings. I just tried the erasing messages method you described but it did not work, in fact the same message popped up again. I'm 100% sure my tires have proper air pressure, and I don't believe the sensors are damaged in any way.

Hmmmm. Don't know why that would be. The only other thing I can think of is to disconnect the battery for 10 mins to have the system to a hard reset. Make sure you have the security codes for the radio and nav before you do so.

Just for the sake of curiosity, keep us posted as to how this plays out, please.

Again just for curiosity (and learning) any idea what caused the codes to be thrown (what were the codes)? I've been swapping mine out back and forth for years with no problem.

^I thought it'd be no problem switching wheels as long as the sensors are original. All I did was put base TL wheels on for 2 weeks, I got the tpms light as I expected, but when I put my aspec wheels back on the light never shut off. very strange. I think it was a rare occurence lol.

Yes, I did. I originally had my A-Specs on my 04 TL, which didn't have TPMS. I put them on my 08 TL-S and got the warning/error messages. I drove for about two weeks before getting another set of TPMS sensors installed. When I got the car back the warning lights were off but the message was stored in the Nav. I cleared the message and have never had an issue since.
This is part if the reason for my follow up. Just trying to satisfy my curiosity. Perhaps the shop I had install the new sensors cleared any messages without telling me. Not sure.

I just put my stock wheels back on after taking off my snow tires. Normally the sensor light goes away after about 15-20 miles, but today I am having no such luck. I've traveled about 40 miles today and it is still on. I didn't opt for sensors in my winter package.
The above process seems to work great for Nav equipped cars, but I don't have Nav. Does anybody know the reset procedure for non-Nav cars?
If I have to take it to the dealer, can a Honda dealer do it the same as an Acura dealer? I have extended warranty through my Acura dealer if it is a bad sensor, but judging by none of the tires show any psi, I am guessing I am in need of a reset. How much should this cost if I can't get them to do it for free?

Let us know when you get this straightened out by the dealer what if anything they say is/was the issue.

Here I was looking forward to the stupid light and TPMS warning when I swapped out my snow tires, but I guess it will happen in due time.
So far.....
1) Regular Acura dealer I go to wanted me to bring it in to look at it. Granted it was a "Secretary/ appointment taker" answering the phone, so I'm not shocked, but they said they would look at it and at worst would be a $150 diagnostic fee. I have an extended warranty through this dealer, but she could not guarantee what, if any would be covered.
If I do have a problem with the system or any sensors, I am only going to be out the $25 deductible.
2) Acura dealer #2 service adviser answer the phone. I ask how much to re-initialize the system, he say $49.95. Explain that none of the 4 work he said that's what it sounds like needs to be done. I ask if Honda dealer can do it, he says no that Honda and Acura systems are different. I don't really believe him.
3) Call Honda dealer that is 5 minutes from my office, he confirms it is true.
4) Call back to Acura dealer #1 to ask to re-initialize the system (now that I know the lingo) he says 1/2 hour of shop labor or $65. Can't match dealer #2's price.
5) Was already waiting on Swoosh to hook me up with a lifetime alignment deal through the local Firestone store he frequents. So I ask him to ask them if they can do it. They can and if I pay for the lifetime alignment, they'll do it for free! Score!
6)While I wait for that appointment though, I though I'd try my Bluetooth OBD-II scanner just for the hell of it, but no error codes found.
So, the light is still on, but I can see an end to it in the near future.
On a side note, I posted this in the wheel and tire section in January, but had no response. Maybe somebody in here can explain it? https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/tpms-question-my-winter-shoes-877299/
Thinking next year I may just leave my stock wheels in the garage until they are ready to go back on to hopefully this problem from happening again!
I'll update after the procedure is done!

Small update.
Got my alignment at Firestone and had my tires rebalanced. They hooked up their Snap-on scanner to reset the light, but had no luck. The tech showed me the scanner and said all 4 sensors are broadcasting, but the car is not picking up the signal.
So, I have an appointment at dealer #1 next week. Hoping whatever it is they can use my warranty and I only pay the $25.

I have the Honda hds there is a second option to program the sensor with out hds. If the system has a dtc it Wong let you program the new sensor. To clear it take the tpms fuse for 2 min then put it back on if the sensor you have are oem or after marke make sure is the right frequency assuming you have oem sensor and you put back on the fuse just run the car for 2 - 3 minute doing 27 or more mph.

They are all OE sensors.
What is dtc and hds?
According to the owner's manual, the TPMS fuse is #12 on the interior panel (7.5 amp). Guess it can't hurt to try that before I spend any $$ at the dealer.

Well, removed the fuse, waited 2+ minutes and reinstalled it. I also checked to make sure it wasn't blown.
Took off, under 25 to get out of my neighborhood, then maybe 2 miles at 35 and still nothing. Hopped on the highway for 3-4 miles and set the cruise at 70 and still nothing. Drove home at 35 and still nothing.
Stupid question, the car was not on in any way when I pulled the fuse, should it be?

When you take the fuse of and back on the tpms warning light should be off with the tire reading 0 or 85 psi if it don't say that when you put the fuse back on take it off for a little longer 5 min take it off with the car on but not running the turn it off

It's off, finally!
Here is a photo of the paperwork from the dealer.

Paid my $25 deductible for the extended warranty and got to drive a 2013 TL with the SH-AWD and I'm a happy man! I Lol'ed at the comment about phone chargers when I got home, I probably would have given the Service Adviser shit about it if I had read it before I left the dealer!
Hopefully this thread can help somebody in the future if nothing else!

I'm having this issue. After my wheels were stolen ive yet to have a tpms reading stick. The tire installer has reset it 3 times, it works for a while (random wheels) then it errors out. My tire place has given up. I do know they aren't OE, dorman I think they are.

Old thread but im having the same issue. I had a set of aftermarket wheels on for the season (northeast, so for about 3 months) and my car wont read the sensors. My sensors are all fine and have perfect signal(wurth sensor scanner). Does it need a few days of back and forth driving to work?

Not sure I completely follow. You ran after market rims for three months and never got the TPMS to read and are asking about it now? Or are you saying you are now back running your OEM setup and they aren't working?
#37
Nbp04 yes i now have my factory sensors back on the car. I did not run my sensors for the summer. I just dealt with the light. Now the car wont read the sensors. None of them, and they are all working.

Interesting. I have two sets of OEM sensors with rims/tires and when I switch over it only take a few miles/minutes for the current set to synch up. Have you tried clearing the error codes to see if that might work? Another option that seems to work for lots of different issues (but not all) is disconnecting the battery for 15 mins to reset everything. If you opt to try this make sure you have your radio / nav codes as appropriate.
#39
Id like to do it without disconnecting the battery. I tried finding a way to clear the codes but cannot find it. I will try the guide, menu, cancel method when i get off work, but i mean none of my sensors are reading which i find really strange. They should just read right away. This is gay lol

Couldn't tell if you had found a thread that explained how to clear the messages or not, but here is one where I posted the info to do so. https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-b...ed-nav-822769/
It seems to work for most but then others have said they didn't have the XM Module appear. I understand not wanting to disconnect the battery, but it may beat having to drive to the dealer
Good luck and let me know if it works.
