To those who own the newer VLED Cree DRLs - which color?

I'm looking to get a nice 5000K DRL, and I want to get in on VLEDs current sale. I think I've heard from a few people that certain VLEDs 6000K looks more like 5000K, and that 5000K look a little yellow. This is the bulb I want, and I want a nice white color, not bluish white, not yellowish:

http://www.vleds.com/bulb/9000-serie...45-1-pair.html

Any opinions and real experience with these would be much appreciated!

I have those exact ones in 5k and they have no hint of yellow anywhere in them. Not when looking directly into it or the light output on the ground. Pure white to me. I also have 5k morimoto 3five bulbs and 5k triton side markers. They all match pretty good.

I ordered the 6 LED in 5k and then returned them for 10 LED 6k (not for bad reasons, I was supposed to get the 10 led version and had a change in heart in what color I wanted in between getting the new 10 led setup), I think I have pictures of both. I'll look for them tomorrow morning

From what I remember the 5k had no yellow at all, and my current 6k setup is close to 5k

Please do post up pics if you guys can. I ordered the 6000K ones yesterday, but since they are backordered, I'm guessing it wouldn't be too big a problem to switch to 5000K.

Viet, I would LOVE to take a look at your setup if you can get some pictures, thinking about doing the same thing.

So you would still need the relay for those VLED DRLs bulbs, is that correct?

^^^Yes, you still need the relay with resistors for this to work. Mine is from iJDMtoy - once this is installed, you can interchange bulbs.

here are pics of the 5k VLEDs DRLs (this is the 6 LED version before I sent them back and got 6k 10 LED versions). the one on the left is the 5k, the one on the right is my OLD jlclightings 6k tower LEDs (not the 6k VLEDs version).

here is also a pic with my 5k Triton switchbacks so you can see how they compare to each other (5k to 5k).

my final setup was 6k 10 LED VLEDs DRLs (no pics yet) and 5k Triton switchbacks, they aren't on at the same time so they don't clash.

let me know if you want me to go take pics of my 6k VLEDs DRL setup

I'd love pics of the 6k VLEDs DRL - I placed my order for em, but I might try to switch if they don't look like what I'm going for. I do like the 5K DRLs you posted up...

the reason i went 6k over 5k is i realized i like the non-oem look. i felt the 5ks looked great but some other car coming down the road might think it's the normal DRLs, but the 6k puts a spin on it where someone might be like "are those aftermarket." probably dumb thinking but i'm happy with the 6ks.

either way i'll post some pics for you tomorrow, VLEDs will have no problem switching your order they are good like that

these 10led bulbs are not really 5K. They dont completely match 5k tritons and older 5k switchback towers and that pisses me off
6led 5k leds do match them though
and you need a relay harness to make them give full output and not flicker (this flicker is not really visible to the eye but very visible to the camera)

So I don't know ZDXs and I can't tell exactly what difference there is, but would you say the 10LED 5000K bulbs are yellowish then?

i would say they are a little bit bluish
its hard to define those LED lights but I can say for sure that my previous Vleds setup (5k tower switchback with metal tip and 5K 13W 9005 DRL tower) matched perfectly, as well as 5k tritons and previous gen 6led DRL but this stupid 10led bulb stands out
however if you are not a color match freak like me you'd be happy, they are brighter than 6led DRL but surprisingly not brighter than the discontinued 13W tower

ok kurt here you go!

oh and by the way, this photo session helped me realize 2 of my LEDs on my driver side went out!! off to vleds that light goes for a free replacement, so thanks haha. so in the pics the driver side will seem funky it's because the front 2 LEDs (the ones you see directly) are actually out and not working.

also as a note, the switchbacks and the DRLs are never on together. i just wanted to show the 5k (triton switchbacks) vs. the 6k (DRLs) difference. let me know if you have any questions. the color and brightness of the 6k lights is somewhere in-between what you see in the sun and shade pics

pictures in the sun (this is DIRECTLY into the sun, but you can still see that they are bright):

pictures in the shade:

Thanks man, I appreciate the time! Sounds like some are complaining about the 5000K versions of these, and I think your 6000K ones look great. They don't have the bluish look like in the pic you posted with the jlc tower LEDs in 6000k, which are just like the ones I have in now, which are the ones that came with the iJDMtoy kit.

I think I will confidently leave my order as is. Thanks for the help!

no problem man! yea they are much more white than the ones you are talking about. i also realized some of the complaints are of the 10 LED 5k, and i never had those, i only saw the 6 LED version.

can't go wrong either way though. unfortunately my camera battery ran out with these pics so the installed steering wheel pics will have to wait until monday when i'm back in town haha.

and of course update here with some pics once you get your DRLs in

These are the 10 led 6K; I think they look quite good, a hint of blue but not much and they are a pretty close match to my stock HIDs as well as my 6K Tritons. They're probably a little over 5000K, somewhere in the area of 5300K would be my guess.

Just wondering, how long does installation take for these DRLs? I'm looking to pick a pair of the 5K VLED DRLs, do I need to purchase the relay harness or anything on the side besides just the bulbs?

Yes, you need the harness. Installation isn't too difficult, took me around 40 minutes or so.
