Questions about the TLX

I have a 07 TSX and am looking at either an Accord EXL v6 or a TLX (4 cyl perhaps). I've looked over the marketing material and photos and I think some of these questions we simply can't answer until Acura releases more info but maybe I missed something or folks here can make an educated guess

1) what will the advance tech option add?
2) is the wood trim in the interior shot standard or is that a higher trim level. I'm not a fan of wood. I like the metallic finish of my TSX
3) what trim levels have the wheels shown on stage vs the wheels in the promo shots? Looks like the promo shots are awd so maybe that's a higher trim?
4) how easy will it be to add a trailer hitch? For my bike rack.

I contacted our dealer and they said more material will be available in 2 weeks and cars are expected in June. They don't know or won't tell what trim levels are coming.

tech pkg probably includes navigation, premium sound, blind spot info system, lane departure warning, collision warning and many more smaller stuff. It's said that only tech and up has leather seat (base is fake leather). Don't know if it true.

advanced pkg will have more safety features, such as adaptive cruise control, auto break system, and lane keeping system. Auto dim side mirrors, fold side mirrors, heated back seats are probably also included in adv pkg.

Well, since no one has really stepped into answer these, I'll give it a shot,

1. If you're looking at the I4, you don't have to worry, you won't get the Advance option (Lane Departure, CMBS, etc.) You'll mainly have the Tech, which will likely be Navi and some other small things.

2. Likely the interior accent pieces will depend on the type of interior you get. (eg. light colored interiors may get the darker wood pieces, and the dark interiors may get the mahogany finish), at this point, no one really knows.

3. The promo shot wheels were 20" which were likely made specifically for the Prototype. (I doubt they'll see it to production). So far 3 sets of wheels have been shown, lets see what the fourth set looks like.
(I'm more interested in what the bolt pattern is gonna be).

4. No Freaking Clue

(if anything is wrong, I'd appreciate some fixing).

Advance TLX adds (over the Tech package):
-Front & rear parking sensors
-Adaptive cruise control with Low speed follow & CMBS
-LED fog lights
-Remote engine start integrated into key fob
-Perforated leather with cooled front seats (in addition to standard 3-level heating)
-Auto dimming side mirrors

The Tech package, below Advance, adds the following to the base:
-Navigation
-Blind spot monitoring
-Lane Keeping Assist
-Lane Departure Warning
-Forward Collision Warning
-Color MID
-HD Radio
-Rain Sensing Wipers
-Leather Seating
-AcuraLink

There are 2 wheel designs, the 17" for 4-cyl models and 18" for V6 models. The only other choice is the Accessory 19" multi-spoke wheel shown on the blue display model car at the New York auto show.

Thanks! I really hope that heated steering wheel will be in the Advance trim, or at least it should make it in the Canadian models!

BTW, I am so relieved to hear that crazy multi-spoke rim on the blue show car in NY is an option - it is so totally overdone! Not very attractive indeed.

Thanks Beach, so you are saying there is no wheel upgrade between the Tech and Advanced trim. This is the case on the TL and maybe this will keep the cost difference down a little between the Tech and Advanced.

I also noticed that the press releases say "cooled" front seats not "ventilated" front seats. This means to me that these new seats are actively cooled, not just air blowing up through them. Can you confirm this?

BTW.. thanks for all the info!

Just about the only thing I'd like to have from the advance package are:

-Front & rear parking sensors
-Adaptive cruise control with Low speed follow & CMBS

Hmmm, at least based on the TL, the advance package upgrade only costs about $2k, which to me is a reasonable amount:

TL with Technology Package $39,760
TL with Advance Package $41,960

Going forward, all Acura cars have the back-up camera as standard.

That confirms my worst fears....all three wheel design are hideous...including the accessory wheels.

Depending on the bolt pattern, maybe we can use existing OEM wheels.

I think both cars are the reveal had the accessory wheels. So I'm hoping maybe this means they are looking for some better options. Pretty easy to change wheels.

But I really like these wheels below. Not sure if these are only on the V6 SHAWD, or the same on other V6 trims.

This wheel is ugly.... This is the I4, base or Tech, not sure.

Do we know if the Nav's traffic is XM pay service or FM free service? And if it goes down to street level or at the very least, deeper than the current TL & TSX?

I really like this 18inch rim. That's the only rim I would take. 17inch looks shit. And 19inch is overly designed.

People fixate on wheels while they are the easiest thing to change. I hated the wheels on my A6 and swapped them out and sold off the old ones.

While they are indeed the easiest thing to change, I should not have to spend another $1,500 - $2,500 after the purchase of a $40k car to get it to look right. The ugly wheels on the base car are fine since I doubt many people will be looking to get a base one of these, but those 18-inch wheels had better be the upgrade that comes with the Tech package.

^^ Couldn't have said it better!! And unlike many, I find that after market wheels cheapens the car (my opinion) so I would "consider" Acura accessory wheels if they had some available that looked decent but I can assure that I would be driving a hard bargain with the dealership and say....give me a good deal on these wheels or else I'll buy a car that looks great on the lot.

BTW....I love the wheels on the BMW 235M

Since Acura can't seem to get many good wheels designs, why couldn't they do like Huyndai and copy the shit out of a nice wheel pattern from another brand?!?

Does anyone know if the steering wheel and seat automatically recline back as you exit the car? I like that feature in the Lexus.
