'05 TL : Have to turn the Key Multiple Times to Start Car

This has just been happening to me for the past week. I have to turn key multiple times to start and I have to do it quick. If not the car doesn't start up.

I recently changed the starter because the car wasn't starting. I noticed the started was bad when I gave it a few knocks to start. Now, I turn the key to start and nothing happens. The Nav, radio and everything is on except for the engine. I can usually twist the key back and forth... then engine will sometimes takes 3-4 times for this to start up.

I'm thinking it might be the ignition switch, anyone ever had this problem before ?

I assume that when the key is turned to start, although accessories are on, there is no starter engagement, so don't rule out a bad starter/solenoid. Where did you get the replacement starter?

Make certain that the battery has 12+ volts, cables are clean and tight, and you can always test the voltage at the solenoid when trying to start, but if you hear a click when trying to start, I'd say bad starter/solenoid.

I needed a starter quickly, so I got a Duralast starter from Autozone. I'm going to test the voltage this week. What are some good starter brands ?

AutoZone starters are hit and miss as the rebuild leaves a lot to be desired, but they do come with a warranty. A few years back a friend of my son's needed a starter for his Corolla, but after 3 AZ starters he got his money back and purchased one elsewhere.
