Exclamation Suspension block of some sort to help against scraping?

Hello fellow enthusiast. SO i've heard from and older individual that supposedly there is a piece in the form of some time of block or cube. This is meant to help stop the scraping of the tires and the fenders. I was told they sold this at the local autoparts stores. Thing is the guy was drunk so idk if what he said then and there was legit or if it was crap. lol. help anybody? I swapped out my OEM wheels and rims for 17s with a wider tire width a long time ago. Whenever i catch a dip or train track or slight unlevel spot in the road my cart bounces and the tire hits the fender, making a painful scrape on my tire. Hope this helps answering my problem!

You mean like a bump stop? You only need to stop the suspension stroke to a point and that its what the Bump Stop do...

If ya are scraping presently on stock suspension, the chances are that ya will need to pull, roll, and trim ........ once ya drop the car. Alot depends on the rim's width and offset......along with the tire diameter.

Yes, they make a rubber spacer that goes in between the coils of your springs. It keeps the springs from compressing as much. They can be bought at automotive stores (advanced auto, O' reilly, Autozone, etc. ). I used them before to temporarily stop from scrubbing. I eventually trimmed my inner fender lips (with a dremel) to add more clearance. This was 12 years ago when I first bought my 99 TL so I was unaware of "rolling" fenders back then.

NO. What the guy was talking about was simply a rubber piece designed to go between the coils (usually on a sagging suspension) to help add some lift. You can not use those to solve your problem. You need to

A: Get different rims that fit properly
B: Roll/Stretch your fenders to get the wheels to fit.
C: Both A & B

First off, what is the offset to your rims? Its usually stamped on the back of the rim.

Where are you rubbing? Front AND Rear? just the rear?

Here is a video.

Idk what my offset is to be honest, and it rubs n the back, mostly on the drivers side. Theyre 17s. I can check the exact tire specs later on after work. And will rolling my fender be an arm and a leg kinda job?

Take a wheel off and look at it. It should have the offset cast into it.

Have you tried trimming the tabs to see if that is your rubbing issue? (look in DIY thread for tab trimming)
As for rolling cost, usually not to bad, sometimes you can find a place to rent the tool and do it yourself. Personally from knowing how easy it is i wouldnt pay more than 200 for the 2 rear quarters to be rolled.

so the offset is cast into the back of the rim on the inner part? and trimming the tabs? is that an easier alternative to rolling a fender?

Try pulling a rim and check for stamping.

Easy enough to trim the tabs.....check the past threads for simple "DIY"s if unsure how to do it. Have someone push down on the car's fenders while ya look at the tire positioning noting where clearance may be needed.

Usually. And yes, it is easierIF that is all that needs to be done. It is NOT a replacement or fix for not having to roll fenders if that is what really needs to be done.

what size tires do you have? from the pic in your avatar it looks like you have something like 225/55/17 and size like that would probably cause the rubbing in the rear. if you are planning to lower, i'd suggest thinner profile/correct size tire depending on your drop goals

Get ALL the Actual Rim and Tire info, not i think or believe. We can better help you. And a camber kit will only help so much. The more camber you add the faster your tires will wear out.

You dont have the oem jack? Take the rim off.

And odds are because of that tire size your rim has a pretty low offset and that is your issue.

If ya misplaced your jack, ya could try turning the front wheels and it may be easier to find a marking on the inner rim. Ya may need to clean a bit or need a flashlight to help. Also, ya might have to spin the wheel 180'.
Ya really need to locate or buy a jack !!!
